Mrs. Wormwood is the secondary antagonist of The Sarah Jane Adventures.

She is the CEO of Bubble Shock!, a fizzy drink manufacturer, which serves as a cover for the Bane aliens - her true race.

She was portrayed by Samantha Bond.

Personality[]

Mrs. Wormwood is a ruthless businesswoman. She is shown to be sadistic and murderous, but shows maternal affection to Luke Smith, whom she created. She shows no remorse for her actions and considers murder a valid punishment.

Physical appearance[]

In human form, Mrs. Wormwood has blonde hair with a fringe that she normally wears up. She is thin, and has pierced ears. She is first seen wearing a suit when CEO of Bubble Shock!, but in later appearances wears a purple outfit with a hood. In Bane form, she is a large, green tentacled alien with one eye.

Biography[]

Background[]

Mrs. Wormwood would have come from the Bane World, the home of the Bane. At some point, the Bane will have arrived on Earth with Mrs. Wormwood and taken human form. At some point, the Bane set up Bubble Shock!, a fizzy drink, with Mrs. Wormwood as CEO to cover their operations to invade Earth.

The Sarah Jane Adventures[]

Whilst in charge of Bubble Shock!, Mrs. Wormwood intended to spread Bane DNA across the UK by mixing it in with the drink. Knowing that 2% of the population did not like Bubble Shock!, Mrs. Wormwood would invite the public to the factory and extract their DNA and use it to produce an ideal human specimen, called the Archetype (later Luke Smith).

Mrs. Wormwood then reveals her Bane form to Kelsey Hooper. She then wipes her memory and sends her home with Davey, giving Davey access to Sarah Jane to kill her. After Davey fails to kill Sarah Jane, she eats him alive. Sarah Jane contacts Mrs. Wormwood and threatens her, leading Mrs. Wormwood to begin the invasion by forcing the 2% of the population to drink Bubble Shock!.

Sarah Jane, Maria and Luke use an extra-terrestrial communicator to overload the Bane Mother's senses, which causes the Bubble Shock! factory to explode. Mrs. Wormwood manages to escape, going into a secret lift and fleeing. Mrs. Wormwood swears revenge on Sarah Jane for killing her mother and species.

Mrs. Wormwood returned to the Bane World, where she was exiled and almost killed. Mrs. Wormwood meets also-exiled Sontaran Kaargh. The two set out to find two-halves of immortal tyrant Horath's identity. Mrs. Wormwood kidnaps Gita Chandra to get Sarah Jane close. Mrs. Wormwood asks Sarah Jane to help her in her search. Sarah Jane then traps Mrs. Wormwood in her attic with a containment vortex. Bane agents arrive and rescue Mrs. Wormwood. Mrs. Wormwood then approaches Luke, trying to convince him to join her, claiming she is his real mother. Luke shows Mrs. Wormwood pity, but refuses.

Eventually, Mrs. Wormwood and Kaargh are able to harness Horath's power, which would make Mrs. Wormwood Empress of the Galaxy. A portal is opened. Kaargh then pushes Mrs. Wormwood into the portal, but is dragged in by Mrs. Wormwood, transporting them to another dimension.

Trivia[]

Mrs. Wormwood's name comes from the Biblical meteor said to hit Earth, and poison the water supply.
