| ~ Loo ordering her minions. |
Ms. Loo, often called Loo, is the main antagonist of the novel The Tiger's Apprentice and the Paramount Animation film with the same name. She is a dark guardian set on destroying the world with the Phoenix, which is in the hands of her arch-nemesis Tom Lee. She is also Rav's adoptive mother.
She was voiced by Michelle Yeoh, who portrayed Joyce Reynolds in A Haunting in Venice, Tso Ngan Kwan in Master Z: The Ip Man Legacy, Philippa Grorgiou in Star Trek: Discovery, and Madame Morrible in Wicked.
Personality[]
Initially, Ms. Loo is presented as a friendly, caring woman who loves her foster daughter Rav, as evidenced how she let Rav walk home with Tom during the opening. However, once she reappears as her true self, her real personality, where she is a cold-hearted sorceress with no redeeming qualities, emerges. All in all, she is a ruthless, deceptive, and mean-spirited sorceress who possesses no good traits and wants nothing more than to take over the world and rid it of all humans.
Appearance[]
Loo is a striking animated character with an otherworldly appearance befitting her role as a supernatural antagonist:
- Skin: Pale blue-gray, giving her a ghostly complexion
- Face: Sharp, angular features with high cheekbones and a pointed chin
- Eyes: Large and expressive, with heavy dark eye makeup accentuating their almond shape
- Eyebrows: Thin and dramatically arched
- Lips: Dark, often set in a stern expression or slight smirk
- Hair: Dark, styled sleekly back from her face
Attire:
- Primarily seen wearing a long, flowing white robe or coat with a hood
- Sometimes depicted with a large, circular hat or headdress
Loo's design combines elements of gothic and supernatural aesthetics, emphasizing her magical nature and villainous role. Her elegant yet menacing appearance is complemented by dramatic gestures and expressions that convey her power and potential threat to the protagonists.

Trivia[]
- Ms. Loo is the first main antagonist in a 2024 animated movie to be a sorceress who can mimic other appearances and fool people, followed by The Chameleon from DreamWorks Animation's Kung Fu Panda 4. Interestingly, both characters possess similar traits in terms of personality and the role they play in their respective movies:
- Both are foster mothers and mentors of a lead female character (Rav for Ms. Loo, Zhen for The Chameleon)
- Their motives in both of their movies are to gain as much power as possible via a magical artifact (the Phoenix Gem and the Staff of Wisdom, respectively)
- When they first appear in their respective movies, they pretend to be someone else (Rav's adoptive human mother and Tai Lng)
- In the end, the heroes of their respective movies (Tom Lee and Po) relinquish them of their powers and give things back to the individuals who lost something important to the villainesses' wrath (the souls of the humans and the kung fu of Po's old adversaries, respectively).
- The only difference is Ms. Loo's goal is mostly due to her own self-absorbed desires, while The Chameleon's stems from not being allowed to learn kung fu due to her small size, making Ms. Loo worse than The Chameleon in terms of personality. Coincidentally, Paramount, the distributor of The Tiger's Apprentice, was the distributor of the first two Kung Fu Panda movies due to a deal with DreamWorks at the time of release.
- Ms. Loo serves as a dark parallel to Hu: both are a surrogate caretaker for one of the main characters (Tom Lee and Rav, respectively) who want them to follow in their traits and become very much like them in terms of skill and personality. However, while Hu comes to terms with letting Tom figure out the true power of the Phoenix Gem on his own terms, which allows Tom to possess its powers greatly, Ms. Loo continuously pushes Rav to make her like she is, ultimately leading to Rav calling her out and Tom to use the Gem to destroy Loo for good. If Hu forced Tom to see Inside the Phoenix Gem and did not let him take his time to embrace its full power, he'd end up like Loo.
