Mucktorok is a major antagonist in the 2023 action-adventure game The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
It is an Octorok that possesses the ability to manipulate sewage and sludge and create an outer coating shaped like a shark for itself. It was summoned by Ganondorf to infect the Zora's water supply by taking over the Water Temple.
Biography[]
When the Upheaval began as a result of Ganondorf breaking free of his imprisonment, he sent four of his monstrous servants to attack the four regions. Mucktorok invaded the Water Temple, the source of Zora's Domain's water supply, and contaminated the water and land with sludge that rendered any Zora exposed to it nauseous, injured, or ill in general.
Sidon used his power to hold back the pollution as long as he could while his fiancée, Yona, and her friends tended to the afflicted while the other Zora constantly use Splash Fruits to keep it under control, but despite their efforts, more sludge kept on coming. Sidon's father, King Dorephan was injured by the Sludge Like summoned by "Zelda" and was forced to seclude himself with Muzu to recover.
Once Yona assures Sidon that she and her friends will hold it back for him, he and Link head up to the Water Temple to solve the pollution crises. They make their way up to the Water Temple where the mysterious voice instructs them to turn on all the faucets in order to dump it on the fountain spewing the sludge. Once all the faucets are activated, the vases splash onto the source, which caused a provoked Mucktorok to emerge, which Sidon realized was the source of Zora's Domain's misery all along, and they head on to fight it.
Despite Mucktorok fighting back against them, it was defeated and killed, allowing Sidon to awaken as the Sage of Water. Mucktorok's death purified all of the water and land in Zora's Domain and the Zoras, including Dorephan, recovered from their affliction.
It's later summoned by Ganondorf along with Colgera, Marbled Gohma, Queen Gibdo and the Seized Construct in Gloom's Lair. By Ganondorf's ultimate defeat, Mucktorok and the rest of the monsters were also killed for good.
