The Citizen Mummies, also known as the Mummies of Guanajuato, and the titular anti-villainous antagonists in the 2014 animated film La Leyenda de las Momias de Guanajuato, the third installment of the Las Leyendas film series.
They are the living corpses of villagers who lived in Guanajuato City, formerly they were poblanos and normal people who inhabited in the first epochs of place, among others that died by diverse natural causes. They came back to life accidentally, because of the disturbance to the Mictlantecuhtli portal, which made the deceased revive by the power of two crystals that Rousseau had in his possession.

La Leyenda de la Llorona[]
Afterwards peace returned to Xochimilco after the defeat of La Llorona, Fray Godofredo appears at the end of the story and tells the Ghost-Hunting Team that Xóchitl was kidnapped by the mummies on his trip to buy "charamuscas" in Guanajuato.
La Leyenda de las Momias de Guanajuato[]

The miner who accompanied Don Gaspar approaches the jewels of the altar provoking the wrath of Mictlantecuhtli, vanishing him instantly and reversing the resuscitation process. Before this, Don Gaspar steals one of the crystals needed to activate the portal but loses it in a stumble. The portal is half open and all the bodies that lay in the cemetery over the mine rise from the dead, but without recovering their normal appearance, but that of mummies. Before this, the town goes to the mine by the explosion, Valentina tries but it is stopped by members of the Royalist Army. In that, people realize that the city is being invaded by mummies and fleeing. The soldiers lock Valentina in her house, and she realizes that her father is dead.
Leo and his friends run through the streets of the city trying to hide from the mummies without success, when a strange covered boy named Luis helps them and distracts the mummies. After presenting himself to Luis, the latter tells them to spend the night at the market and vanishes into the mist.
Far from the market a cry for help is heard, it is a woman with a baby who is being attacked by mummies. Leo goes to her rescue to show Luis that he is not a coward. The woman realizes that one of the mummies that attacks her is actually her dead husband who comes to see her again, but Leo takes him away from her along with the other mummies with barrels.
The musicians mummies reverting to their human form before going to the afterlife.
Leo and Luis walking down the street are chased by a group of mummies that make them fall into a moving cart and after a dangerous journey arrive safely to another street. They realize that although they were fleeing from the mummies, they never attacked them. Luis explains that since the mummies awoke they have been returning to their normal activities as when they were alive.
Don Gaspar reappears and gives Leo the lost stone so that he can close the portal. Once closed, the souls of all the mummies regain their original body and ascend to the world of the dead. The ghost of Don Gaspar says goodbye to his daughter and also rises. The portal self-destructs.
La Leyenda del Chupacabras[]
They have no physical appearance or mention after resting in peace again due to the closure of the mine's portal. But they appear in the opening theme of the film in which they are seen emerging from the ground and cornering Leo with Valentina in the Guanajuato cemetery.
La Leyenda del Charro Negro[]
In this film they also have only one other appearance in an opening theme; chasing Leo, Teodora, Don Andrés and Alebrije in the streets of Guanajuato.

In this scene -considered non-canonical within the film-, Leo investigates the resurgence of the dead by entering the mine, getting stuck on the bridge when it broke and being surrounded by two mummies that appear from both entrances to the cavern, so Teodora takes out her cell phone and takes a selfie to post. on Freisbook. At the end of the teaser, the sugar skulls climb onto a timber with the "title of the film" and are hit by a wagon in which a group of mummies were going.

In the final song they are mentioned along with other legends, speaking that: in Guanajuato there was a way to bring the dead to life, and that it is dangerous because they are the mummies that walk there.

They have a mention in the teaser from Finado and Moribunda when they pretend to be scared, saying that the Mummies of Guanajuato are not scary.
