The Munai-bailer (Kazakh: Мұнай-байлер) roughly translated to Oil-drillers, are the main antagonists in the Caspian chapter of Metro Exodus. They are slavers and bandits led by the Baron that rule over the inhabitants of the Caspian desert with an iron fist.
Biography[]
Approximately 700 raiders from the Munai-bailer have taken control of major oil deposits in the Caspian area. The organization is primarily made up of ex-soldiers, mobsters, and Svarog Oil employees. One of the few post-apocalyptic organizations that not only has access to operational cars but also keeps a sizable number of them in good condition.
These assets have been utilized by them to both enslave the local populace and repel any other raider parties who attempted to enter the area. In comparison to other bandit organizations, the Munai-bailer are also considerably better armed, using modern, pre-war weaponry like the Bulldog and the Shambler as well as armored warriors equipped with Gatling guns. They recently began branding themselves as "fire gods," perhaps to control their slave population.
After the Baron was killed and Giul destroyed their primary base, it is uncertain if the Munai-bailer are still in tact. The Munai-bailer may finally come to an end if Artyom killed Saul, or vice versa. However, it is likely that the raiders will continue to wreak havoc on the Caspian for years to come given that the majority of the Munai-bailer troops were out on a raid when the Aurora crew landed.
Manpower[]
Being one of the most powerful raider factions in the Caspian, with over a total of 700 members, the Munai-bailer is a force to be reckoned with, as they have had an iron grip of the place's resources, most notably oil and water. Their numbers and their access to modern weaponry and vehicles is enough to cower the Aurora Crew, despite the crew themselves contained some of the battle-hardened Spartan Rangers.
