~ Greeting of Munan Chohept Onast cultists |
Munan Suzuki is a minor antagonist of Yakuza 0, and a minor protagonist of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. He is the guru of the Order of Munan Chohept Onast and uses his position to get what he wants.
He has no voice in Yakuza 0, but is voiced by Issei Takubo in Yakuza 6.
Appearance[]
Suzuki has long flowing hair, a thin mustache, and a prominent mole on the left side of his face. He wears the typical cult robes, but adorned with a purple and gold vest and headband.
When he's older, he wears a brown jacket and his once black hair has turned gray.
Personality[]
As a young man, Suzuki was slimy and perverted, using his position to scam money out of vulnerable people and trick women into sleeping with him. After his release from prison, he had a change of heart and was now a soft spoken, almost sweet man.
Biography[]
Suzuki opened the cult of the Order of Munan Chohept Onast in 1988. The aim was to trick people into giving up all their "worldly possessions" in honor of their god, which is mostly just money. At one point, he solicits a young woman named Iori and tells her that she doesn't have enough money for their god to feel happy with her, which almost destroys her. However, he offers a private session with her, which he is ultimately using to have sex with her. He is confronted by Goro Majima, who gives the young woman an amulet made by her mother. This causes her to break out of her brainwashing, realizing what's going on. Enraged, Suzuki battles Majima. In the end, he is soundly defeated by the Mad Dog, and is surrounded by his cultists. He begs them to call an ambulance, but instead they perform the Ritual of Healing.
Suzuki would be arrested and serve an undisclosed amount of time, eventually being released and moving to Onomichi.
Suzuki would find himself wrapped back in the shenanigans of his old cult in 2016, although this time he opposes the group. He discovers his old friend and crush, Mie, was now a member of the Order, much to his dismay. He begs Kazuma Kiryu to infiltrate the order with him, to which he agrees. The two work their way to the new leader, Munan Akamatsu, and reveals his true identity: the first Guru of the Order of Munan Chohept Onast, Munan Suzuki. He exposes Akamatsu for a fraud, After their rescue of Mie, Suzuki reveals to Kiryu that he originally had thought of restarting the cult, but Mie stopped him, and ultimately changed him for good.
