The Munchers are the main antagonists of Don't Have a Cow, Mankind, the second segment of the Simpsons episode Treehouse of Horror XX.
They are a group of cannibalistic people who got infected by the Burger², a new burger made by Krusty using cattles that had eaten other cattles, which made it into a tainted, poisonous burger with dangerous infection abilities. However, Bart was able to survive as he was immune to it's effects and was used as a way of vaccination to turn everyone back to normal, with the exception of Homer.
Appearance[]
The Munchers' appearances are the same as their original counterparts, but their skins are grey, their eyes are grey and what looks to be red bags are under their eyes.
Personality[]
The Munchers do not have a defined personality, other than being cannibalistic and mindless, eating everything they can find.
Biography[]
Beginning of the Infection[]
The Munchers start to spread around when Krusty promotes his newest burger, the Burger2, which was made of cows that had eaten other cows. As he gave one to Kent Brockman, the latter commented on the taste before transforming into the first Muncher, who bites Krusty's arm and turns him into a Muncher as well, causing an outbreak and other citizens to either barricade their house or get themselves eaten by the Munchers.
28 Days Later...[]
Springfield is overrun by the Munchers, eating everybody they can find, including Moe. The only survivors, the Simpsons, barricaded their home so nobody would get in to disturb them, as they play cards. However, Abe Simpson is still outside the house, banging on the window and pleading Homer to let him in, but Homer simply closes the curtains on him, causing Abe to fall victim to the Munchers and eaten alive. In his bedroom, Bart is tired of eating nothing other than fruits.
He then looks at the demolished Krusty Burger, where he finds the Burger2 that caused the infection in the first place and goes on to eat it. Suprisingly, Bart does not turn into a Muncher after eating the burger, meaning that he is immune to it's effects. However, this scares Marge as Bart just ate the tainted burger, causing Homer to come in the room and attempt to bash Bart with a book, but Lisa stops him. The family then realize that Bart is actually immune to the infection. They then call Dr. Hibbert, defending himself from the Munchers, who tells them that Bart's immunity may be useful to develop a cure to save humanity from being overrun by the Munchers. However, he is eventually ambushed and overrun by the Munchers, turning into one of them in the process and cutting off the call.
The Simpsons then attempt to escape, but the Munchers were waiting for them outside and attempt to attack them. Fortunately for the Simpsons, they are saved by Apu, who was not infected due to being a vegetarian, driving a heavily armored truck and crushing Munchers as they go on to leave Springfield, only to be stuck on a pile of cars. As Apu was trying to push the car out, the Simpsons drive away in order to sacrifice Apu, who is eaten by the Munchers. As they were close to the safe zone, however, Homer is bitten by an infected Mr. Burns, turning him into a Muncher himself, but is spared in hopes of finding a cure. Finally reaching the safe zone, the survivors worship Bart as the chosen one, due to his immunity. However, they initially planned on having Bart eaten to cure the infected. The Simpsons then use a better idea, having Bart bathe in their food to form a vaccine and curing those who eat it, ending the Muncher outbreak as everybody was cured, except Homer, who possibly refused to eat the food or probably due to the fact Bart was doing this as revenge for the abuse he was given.
