Murasame is the titular secondary antagonist of the 1986 action-adventure video game The Mysterious Murasame Castle. It is a statue which was brought to life by a mysterious lifeform.
Biography[]
Murasame was a large statue housed within Murasame Castle. On a stormy night, a shining gold object fell from the sky, and a startling screech was heard coming from within the castle. The object, in truth an evil alien lifeform, brought the statue of Murasame to life, and corrupted the daimyo of four neighbouring castles with the use of powerful magical orbs. The shogunate, hearing of this incident, dispatched a young apprentice samurai named Takamaru to investigate.
After having defeated the four daimyo, Takamaru finally reached the maze-like Murasame Castle, eventually making it to the room holding Murasame, engaging it in battle. After its defeat, the statue transformed back into stone, allowing Takamaru to battle the alien entity which had possessed it.
Other Media[]
Samurai Warriors 3[]
Murasame appears as the final boss of the "Murasame Castle" mode, exclusive to the Wii version of Samurai Warriors 3. After being defeated by Takamaru at the end of The Mysterious Murasame Castle, the weakened alien lifeform, referred to as a "spirit" throughout the game, transported itself and Takamaru into the past, seeking five jewels with which it could regain its power. Aided by the player character, Takamaru attempts to thwart the spirit's plans, but their efforts are in vain, as it retrieves the jewels, and brings the past version of the Murasame statue to life. Takamaru and the player character decide to head for the castle, and destroy Murasame once and for all. After defeating Murasame, the spirit is finally vanquished, and Takamaru is transported back to his time.
