The Mutant Krabby Patty is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Plankton) of the SpongeBob SquarePants videogame, Creature from the Krusty Krab.
It is a genetically engineered Krabby Patty that was unintentionally created by Plankton in a lab. Shortly after its creation, it gives chase to Plankton.
Biography[]
After waking up from a nightmare (the defeat of both Starfishman and Dreaded Patrick), Plankton decides to enlarge a Krabby Patty crumb he managed to steal from the Krusty Krab using his Enlargatron Ray. However, the inaccurate coordinate of the ray causes the Krabby Patty to overgrow and mutate into a living patty, who then takes notice of Plankton. In order to fight against the now living Krabby Patty, Plankton tries to enlarges himself as well. However, a malfunction causes him to only become the size of an average Bikini Bottomite. Seeing the Krabby Patty is still far bigger, Plankton equips himself with a freeze ray named the Dispiculator and makes a run for it. The Krabby Patty proceeds to give chase to Plankton throughout Bikini Bottom, including the Jellyfish Power Plant, the Oyster Stadium, and an Industrial Park, only for them to arrive back at the Chum Bucket. Plankton hides behind coral and the patty passes by. However, the patty comes back, notices his antennas while he's bragging, and crushes Plankton.
Later in the game, Plankton, who somehow survived his last encounter, wakes up from another nightmare (Patrick flying into the ocean on a rocket). However, he is greeted by the Krabby Patty sleeping next to him in bed. Plankton attempts to sneak his way out of the Chum Bucket, but as unfortunate timing calls for it, Karen's alarm goes off and wakes up the Krabby Patty. Out of panic, Plankton quickly enlarges himself to colossal size, successfully this time, and gives chase to the Krabby Patty.
The Krabby Patty tries to escape from Plankton by hiding in skyscrapers. Unfortunately for the Krabby Patty, these attempts were futile as Plankton destroyed the skyscrapers the Patty was residing in. Eventually, Plankton catches the Krabby Patty. However, shortly after escaping the Alaskan Bull Worm's digestive system, SpongeBob swoops in and the Krabby Patty grabs onto SpongeBob's plane. Plankton chases SpongeBob and the Patty throughout Bikini Bottom. After a while, Plankton manages to catch SpongeBob and the Krabby Patty. However, Patrick (who is dressed as his superhero alter ego, "Starfishman") defeats Plankton, freeing SpongeBob and the Krabby Patty.
Disguised as a doctor, the Krabby Patty informs that SpongeBob, Patrick, and Plankton's strange dreams were caused by them eating a Krabby Patty right before going to sleep. When questioned on his knowledge of Krabby Patties by SpongeBob, he reveals his identify as the Krabby Patty the main characters had eaten. SpongeBob, Patrick, and Plankton decided to give chase to the Krabby Patty together, hoping that doing so would wake them up. After winning a race using either SpongeBob, Patrick, or Plankton, an ending will play featuring the winner using the Krabby Patty for their own desires. It was then revealed that the entire game was all Gary's dream, it was he who ate a Krabby Patty.
Trivia[]
- The patty is technically the true titular Creature from the Krusty Krab, give that it's their signature meal. The promos and artwork for the game lead viewers to believe that it was Plankton when he turned into a giant.
- The handheld versions of the game play out the story a little different.
- The GBA version, the Patty was created with chemistry instead of an invention. At the end, SpongeBob, Patrick, and Plankton wanted the Patty for their own purposes instead of being more interested in waking up from the dream.
