~ The Mycologists

The Mycologists are major antagonists in Inscryption. They are supporting characters in Act I, as well as Act II, and major antagonists in Act III.

Personality[]

The Mycologists are eccentric characters, being a scientist and a fungal entity conjoined to each other. Contrary to what would be expected, the main head speaks in a weak voice, often making statements as if they're questions. The main head also expresses remorse for its experiments from time to time, questioning what it has done whereas the smaller head proposes statements bluntly and will often finish sentences for the main head. The main head seems to grow more confident once it possesses P03 however, both of them taking on similar demeanors.

Biography[]

Act I[]

The Mycologists are a possible encounter in Act I, where Leshy will wear a mask of their face and offer to take two of the players own cards and mutate them into one. If the player has no doubles however, the Mycologists will give them a card they already have. When mutated, cards will merge stats and sigils as long as they're two of the same.

Act II[]

The Mycologists can be met at their hut after two scrybes are defeated in Act II. Once they are met, they'll begin requesting that the player brings them two of certain cards. They'll first ask for two gravediggers, then two field mice, then two sentry drones and finally two blue mages. They'll merge each card into each other, turning them into their "spore" forms which will allow their sigils to function twice in battle. Once the Mycologists are given all cards, a holographic key will appear which the player can take.

Act III[]

In Act I, the Mycologists can be found in a secret path to the corner of the map east of Botopia. There'll be a door which the player can use the key obtained from doing their tasks in Act II on, allowing the player to enter into a secret boss. The Mycologists will possess P03, and swarm the area with mushrooms as they engage the player in a card battle where their own cards will start moving into the center of the board to fuse for combined stats and sigils. In phase two, however, the player's cards will fuse as well. Once the boss is defeated, the Mycologists will fuse the Daus with a Gem Detonator into a fragment of the OLD_DATA, cheerfully keeping their own card as well as allowing the player to keep their own, as the Mycologists then leave the scene P03 will have had its memory erased, continuing on with its campaign as if nothing happened.

Trivia[]

  • The Mycologists' real name are both "Mycologists".
