Mythos Creatures are major antagonists in the Sonic the Hedgehog book series by Virgin Books.
They are an army of magical beings who are at war with the Organizers, masters of the Fourth Dimension who believe the Mythos Creatures' existence contradicts laws of nature. Eventually, they encounter Sonic the Hedgehog and steal the Chaos Emeralds in a plot to erase the Fourth Dimension from existence.
History[]
For a long time, Mythos Creatures of various kinds were at odds with the Organizers of the Fourth Dimension. The Organizers aimed to keep order in the universe, and believed the Mythos Creatures' existence to he a threat to said order, locking the two sides in an endless war of extermination. Mythos Creatures eventually managed to occupy certain territories in the Fourth Dimension.
One day, Sonic the Hedgehog entered the Fourth Dimension after falling victim to another of Robotnik's world domination schemes. There, he encountered Arctur the Dragonkin and teamed up with the Organizers against him and the other Mythos Creatures.
When Sonic traveled into the last, Arctur followed him and stole the Chaos Emeralds. The Mythos Creatures took them to a time before the Big Bang, intending to alter the very nature of the creation of the universe, so that Fourth Dimension would never come to exist and their species would be free to live in safety. They managed to do it, but Sonic ended up undoing said event by time-travelling to a point before he originally met Arctur. He convinced the Dragonkin to negotiate a peace treaty with the Organizers. A deal was made, according to which the Mythos Creatures would be allowed to live in the Organizers' dimension and cooperate with them.
