Naga is a Wicked Dragon at the service of Jaryuu Clan and under the command of Ryuuwon and he appears as the primary antagonist in episode 16 of GoGo Sentai Boukenger. He was Ryuuwon's top servant and enforcer and the former partner of Ragi, the human of the Water Metropolis, who volunteered and allowed Ryuuwon to mutate himself into the Wicked Dragon. Naga was tasked by his master to assist Ragi and together with his partner obtain a map to the Water Crystal, which was another Precious in Ryuuwon's plans. Eventually, this plan again brought the attention of Boukenger, who decided to stop Ryuuwon and Naga and reform Ragi.
He is voiced by the late Kiyoyuki Yanada, who previously voiced Tau Zant in Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger and would go on to voice both Yogostein and Yogoshimacritein in Engine Sentai Go-Onger.
Biography[]
Naga was sent by Ryuuwon to obtain a map to the Water Crystal with help from Ragi, a human of the Water Metropolis who had allowed himself to be mutated into a Wicked Dragon and agreed to help Ryuuwon in exchange for using the Water Crystal to restore his civilization. The two were able to steal the map but were confronted by the Boukengers. During the ensuing fight, BoukenRed tore off a piece of the map needed to decipher the exact location of the Water Crystal, causing Naga and Ragi to attack the city in order to lure out the Boukengers so they could make an attempt to steal it. Naga threatened to level the city unless the torn off piece of the map was given to them, but with some quick and clever thinking, the Boukengers were able to temporarily incapacitate Naga while Ragi and BoukenRed fought over the last piece of the map.
As Naga was fighting the Boukengers, Ragi returned and sadly informed him that the final piece had been destroyed, leading Ryuuwon to order Ragi's execution for his failure. Naga attempted to kill Ragi, but Ragi was saved by Satoru Akashi, the BoukenRed. Having memorized the final piece of the map before it was destroyed, BoukenRed agreed to help Ragi locate the Water Crystal after learning of his true motivations. However, Ryuuwon and Naga became aware of this and followed Ragi in order to obtain the Water Crystal for themselves. Naga was destroyed by Masumi, the BoukenBlack using the Dual Crusher Drill Head before being revived and enlarged by Ryuuwon. He was then struck down and destroyed again by the Boukengers in DaiBouken.
Personality[]
Just like most of other Ryuuwon's servants and monsters, Naga was shown to be highly cold, ruthless, arrogant and destructive and will stop at nothing to destroy the Boukenger and bring the Water Crystal to his master Ryuuwon. However, despite his arrogant and villainous nature, Naga showed more loyal side towards his partner Ragi, when he was on his side. At first they were working as partners and together loyally served Ryuuwon, but later Ragi betrayed Naga, after having a change of heart and joining the Boukengers. This action heavily insulted and enraged Naga and the Wicked Dragon decided to get revenge on his former partner and destroy him for betraying Ryuuwon and Jaryuu Tribe. This action of Naga proved that he and Ryuuwon hated and didn't forgive traitors and desired to punish and get revenge on those betrayed them. Just like multiple other monsters and villains in Sentai series, Naga proved to be highly arrogant and confident and was eventually outmatched and beaten by Rangers. However, despite his arrogant and savage nature, Naga was highly loyal to Ryuuwon and was loyally following his orders, without disobeying his master.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Lightning Beams: Naga can fire red colored lightning beams, but where he fires them is unknown.
- Fire Breath: Naga can breathe out strong flames from his mouth. A single puff of this stopped the Super Dai Bouken's finisher in its tracks.
- Superhuman Strength: Naga is one of the strongest monsters, being able to overpower the Rangers and the Super DaiBouken with ease.
- Superhuman Durability-Naga has very thick bull like skin that made him immune to all attacks thrown at him, including carpet bombing by the GoGo Jet and a powerful double energy slash from Chief and Ragi's weapons without exploding.
- Extraordinary Leaper: Naga can leap at an incredible distance.
- Dragonoid Jaryuu Soldiers Summoning: Naga can summon an army of Dragonoid Jaryuu soldiers to aid him in battle.
Arsenal[]
- Bull Scepter: He wields a crescent-tipped scepter in battle.
- Energy Slash: Naga can unleash light red colored energy slashes from his staff toward the enemy.
- Teleportation Slash: Naga can also unleash flame-like slashes from his staff that can teleport himself (and sometimes an ally) to any location at will.
- Fireballs: Naga can also launch massive orange fireballs from his scepter. This was clearly his strongest attack as he tried to use this to destroy Ragi and as it is, it sent him and Chief flying.
- Flame Laser: Naga can also launch red-orange colored energy lasers made of flames from his staff as well.
- Bull Horns: True to his name, Naga possesses a pair of bull horns on his head that he can use to charge his enemies at full force. These were powerful enough to stop the Super DaiBouken's ram attack.
