Nana Hiiragi is the main protagonist of the psychological thriller and horror manga and anime series Talentless Nana. Initially appearing to be a Talented whose main power is telepathy, it is immediately made apparent that Nana is actually Talentless and is an assassin hired by the government to exterminate the Talented students until she turned against her superiors after hearing the truth of her parents' death. She is also the archenemy of (formerly) Kyouya Onodera and (currently) Tsuruoka.
She is voiced by Rumi Ōkubo in Japanese and Michelle Marie in English, the latter who also voiced Touka Satomi from Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story.
Biography[]
Past[]
When Nana was a young girl, her parents were killed by a Talented human (which is false as her parents were killed by Tsuroka). After this devastating turn of events, Nana is indoctrinated by the government to believe that the Talented were the true "Enemies of Humanity" and were threats. Threatening her with harsh punishment if she failed her task, Nana agrees to act as an assassin and is sent to a faraway island that the Talented are sent to.
Talentless Nana[]
When Nanao Nakajima is forced to attend school on the island, he meets Nana. From that point onward, Nana continued to intrude on him solely so she could figure out what his Talent was. She even pushes him into becoming the leader of the class despite it being believed that he was Talentless. When Moguo unwittingly creates a large wave of fire that threatened to kill the students, Nanao steps in and reveals his Talent to be neutralizing other Talented users' powers. From there, Nanao is selected as the leader. However, when Nanao shares a moment with Nana at the cliff's side, Nana grabs a hold of his hands and tosses him off the cliff. Nanao barely holds on long enough to realize that Nana never had telepathy and merely observed his mannerisms. After clarifying to him that he was the true enemy of humanity, Nana quietly prays to herself as Nanao fell to his presumed death.
When she learns that Yohei Shibusawa had the ability to travel back in time for twenty-four hours, she convinces him that Nanao was eaten by an Enemy of Humanity. Agreeing to help her, Yohei travels back in time to prevent Nanao's presumed death only to die from a combination of an inability to swim and his exhaustion and drowns in the lake. Because Seiya would later freeze it over, no one would be able to discover Yohei's corpse.
Kyouya Onodera begins to suspect one of the students being the culprit which puts him on Nana's radar. Because Kyouya left his Talent disclosed, Nana starts to hang out with him whilst attempting to avoid becoming suspicious. He discovers Nanao's wristwatch concluding that it must have belonged to Nanao. With the situation becoming direr, Nana attempts to kill Kyouya in an explosion (but not before taking his pet cat out so it would be uninjured). When Kyouya unwittingly starts the fire by turning on the stove, Nana prepared to leave assuming him to have been slain instantly.
To her surprise and bewilderment, Kyouya is revealed to have survived, explaining that his Talent was "invincibility". Enraged, Nana becomes more determined to kill him.
Until she learned the truth of her parents' death, Nana attempted to commit suicide for her actions when she falsely killing the Talented who are not the true enemy of humanity but rejoice her former classmates to turned against Tsuruoka and determined to kill him in order to avenge her parents as well to protect her former classmates.
