She then put an ad in for baby clothes with an expecting mother named Jill Evans, responding to it. Nancy met Jill at a park, showing her to clothes while acting cordial before ushering Jill to her car. Once out of sight, Nancy proceeded to strike Jill in the head and throw her in the back of her trunk. Nancy then drove past the park attendant and went to a remote spot in the area, where she stabbed Jill to retrieve her baby. The baby was a girl that Nancy called Aria, who she made off with while leaving the bloodied and unconscious Jill for dead.
However, her shoddy way of attaining the baby put its life in danger, resulting in blood loss and its skin pigmentation turning blue. Meanwhile, Jill was able to regain consciousness and call 911 dispatch where Maddie Buckley answers the call and she reported how she was stabbed, barely clinging to life. Maddie was able to help Jill survive until help arrive. She contacted Jill's husband Rick and sister who revealed why Jill was out, being horrified at the attack.
LAPD Sergeant Athena Grant found Nancy after she was spotted speeding, while fleeing the park. Trying to divert attention, Nancy apologized for her error, but Athena noticed the blue baby and had her exit the car while spotting the blood on Nancy's hands and feet who tried to deflect. Getting suspicious of her, Athena had Nancy handcuffed while notifying LAFD about the situation.
The 118 unit answered the car with paramedic Howard Han checking the baby, while Eddie evaluated Nancy. The baby was able to be saved while it is noted Nancy is completely insane. Searching her car revealed suspicious items such as a fake pregnancy belly, with everyone quickly guessing that Nancy wasn't the mother and needed a baby after recalling the car from Maddie's call and connecting them. Nancy also inquired on “her” baby, but Athena sees through her façade and asked her again what she did to the actual mother. Nancy stated that the baby has to be hers because she promised her husband George, they would have a baby while vehemently declaring that she was the mother while not giving up any information regarding Jill. She was dismayed to hear that they have a lead on Jill.
At the park where she met Jill, the attendant recalled Jill's car though had revealed she wasn't driving but Nancy who was the one driving it as she parked in the back of the area. Jill was found in the trunk unconscious but still alive with her call to Maddie still connected. The 118 proceed to take her to the hospital where she regains consciousness and finally meets her daughter with her husband Rick coming to see them.
Nancy is then imprisoned for life on all of her crimes of kidnapping, attempted murder, and reckless endangerment of an infant.
