Nastytail is the main antagonist of the Geronimo Stilton book The Temple of the Ruby of Fire. He is the leader of a group of rats destroying the Amazon rainforest.
History[]
Nastytail was the boss of a team that came to the jungle in Brazil to chop down all the trees for their greed. They drove out the native Yanomami from the forest next to the House of the Howling Spirits, threatening to burn down their homes if they intervened, and built their campsite near the temple where the Ruby of Fire was hidden. He frequently bossed around and belittled his henchmen, including Bones and Mike Miceson, often scolding the latter for his stupidity.
While they were cutting down trees one night, the rats were spotted by Geronimo, Thea, Trap, Benjamin and Professor Paws von Volt, who reported them to the Yanomami villagers. The next night, when Nastytail and his group were asleep, the Stiltons, Volt and Monkeyfur went into the temple to find the Ruby of Fire. They accidentally start a fire, which was put out by Monkeyfur but awoke Nastytail and his crew, who went to the temple and confronted them. They decided to kidnap Monkeyfur to threaten the villagers and looked for the ruby. As they grabbed Monkeyfur, Volt stopped them and showed them the ruby. Nastytail celebrated the thought that he would become rich from owning the ruby and the apparent oil well under the stone, even shouting in objection to Bones and Miceson when they did as well. Nastytail ordered them to haul the stone away, but they were then attacked by the monkey army of the Howling Spirits. While his two right-hand mice gave up, Nastytail smashed the ruby with his machete. After Trap tied up the villains and put them underneath a tree, Monkeyfur revealed the ruby that Nastytail destroyed was actually fake and a boa constrictor was guarding the real one.
Thea called the police, who arrived the next morning. Nastytail, Bones and Miceson had broken free from the ropes, but Monkeyfur caught each of them in separate traps; Nastytail was angrily jumping up and down in a deep hole covered with twigs. The three were arrested and soon the villagers returned to their homes.
