Natalia Alexander is a major antagonist-turned-major protagonist of the Netflix series Control Z.

She used to be one of the popular students of National School until she was exposed as a thief when the hacker revealed that she has been embezzling the school money for personal gain. She is María's twin sister and Isabela's former best friend-turned-enemy.

She is portrayed by Macarena García.

Biography[]

Before the Series[]

Natalia is known as one of the popular students of National School, being part of the famous clique consisting of her sister María, her best friend Isabela, her nemesis Rosita (although it is never confirmed why they hate each other), Raúl León, Gerry Granda, Pablo García and the incompetent duo of Darío & Ernesto who look down upon local outcast Sofía Herrera when they caught her, in the middle of a class, trying to cut her wrists with a pair of scissors. Because of this, she was thought of as "crazy" by her peers, with Natalia even pointing out that she could have a "devil crisis". At some point, she became president of NONA, an annual party, but unbeknownst to the students, she has been embezzling the money school in order to buy expensive items for herself. When she and the others were talking about Raúl's father, not knowing he was overhearing them, Gerry said that Raúl was going to end up like him, to which Natalia stated that it didn't matter, asking him if he was going to stop being friends with Raúl because of it, which Gerry denies. According to Sofía, Natalia is someone who basically "hates everyone" and this starts to show when the hacker slowly leaks everyone's secrets.

Season 1[]

Natalia was giving the students's parents a meeting, while her sister María handed out to them some flyers, about the NONA party which she describes it as an event where the students learn important abilities, only to be interrupted by Martha, Luis's mother, who takes this as an excuse for them to do whatever they feel like, bringing up the fact about how a sophomore female student was sexually abused last year. Some parents start indistinctly making comments about, but are cut off by Quintanilla who dismisses this confession as a rumour because there was no solid evidence about this; Natalia assures that her only priority is the students's safety. Natalia is later forced anonymously by the hacker to partake with Gerry in revealing Isabela's secret, threatening to make their own public if they refuse. Natalia claims to the gym teacher that she is not feeling well, followed by Isabela whose cellphone is nowhere to be found, as witnessed by the suspicious Sofía; Natalia used that excuse to steal it. During a presentation hosted by Quintanilla to teach the students how to properly use their cellphones, however, instead of the topic, a video about Isabela's birthday during her days as a boy is shown, thus revealing her secret to the entire school before she runs out of the auditorium in tears, with Natalia and María following suit (despite the former's unwilling betrayal). Isabela explains to them why she had to keep the information a secret and they show support, although Natalia doesn't embrace Isabela, knowing she is one of the reasons why the hacker revealed her secret. Pablo, in the guise of pretending not to know Isabela's secret, breaks up with her, much to Isabela's anger and Natalia pushes him aside. Natalia is seen hiding in the ladies's restrooms, crying out of guilt, where Sofía tells her she knows that she had stolen Isabela's cellphone. After some reluctance, she steps out of the toilet and says she didn't mean to betray Isabela and embraces Javier. The hacker then texts Isabela if she wants to get revenge on Pablo for his betrayal, including her treacherous former friends Raúl, Natalia and Gerry who all parttook in revealing her secret, leading the infuriated Isabela to reply "yes".

The next day, the secrets of the hackers' targets come out, including Natalia, who is exposed as a thief to everyone for having embezzling the money collected for the NONA, leading most of the students to angrily call her out at this and demand she give the money back. Gerry still makes fun of Isabela over her gender identity, which evokes a violent fight between him, Pablo, Javier, Natalia (who tries to apologize to Isabela but is cut off) and Raúl, with Isabela calling out both him and Natalia for aligning themselves with the hacker and, making a childish tantrum, throws a glass vase at Gerry, who dodges it, when he refuses to stop provoking her. As a result, they are all summoned to the principal's office to sort out their issues. Quintanilla questions her about the money because most of her committee peers are outraged by her controversial actions, with Natalia insisting that she had moved the money to another account for better interests and provide more for the mazahuas, promising to return it as soon as possible but that the bank may take longer than expected. Nevertheless, Quintanilla removes Natalia as president of NONA to replace her with Rosita, while demanding the give the money back immediately so that he won't have to take any further drastic measures. Frustrated, Natalia cites how "unfair" is this and that even Quintanilla doesn't trust her anymore before walking out of the office. However, a conversation with her sister María reveals that, in fact, Natalia actually doesn't have the money right now, because she had already spent it all in buying expensive items for herself. In her own words, Natalia states that if people are going to take her seriously as a winner, then she has to look like one, when asked about it by María. Natalia then turns to Isabela, who refuses to talk to her after what she did, despite assuring that the hacker was blackmailing her, asking Isabela what would she have done in her place. "I would never do that to my best friend", Isabela replies before leaving. Natalia later faces the consequences of her actions while scolded by her parents.

In order to get the money fast, Natalia starts selling some of her things, which aren't even worth the minimun penny. When Luis, a lonely student, falsely admits to being the hacker (so that Gerry, Dario and Ernesto won't bully him anymore), Sofia is quick to see through his ruse, recalling how she has been standing up for Luis in similar situations, telling him he shouldn't have done that since it would imply that he is protecting the real culprit. However, Gerry, believing Luis's confession to be true, decides to take revenge on him by beating him up. The situation even gets worse when the hacker forces a public fight between Gerry and Luis. Natalia lets Quintanilla know about this and locks up Gerry in the auditorium to keep him from causing trouble. Natalia is among those students who are awaiting Gerry's arrival and Luis, through lines sent by the real hacker to his cellphone, starts provoking her and the other students, including those with their secrets already revealed. After Gerry is released by Alex (on the hacker's orders), the fight is resumed, with Natalia attempting to punch Luis, but accidentally hits Raúl instead. The fight escalates, ending with Gerry knocking Luis hard, causing him to fall over and hit the pavement, much to the horror of the students.

Natalia later attends Raúl's party where she sees that everyone is ignoring her; her nemesis Rosita has posted in her profile a challenge FreezeNatalia in which anyone who speaks to her is banned from attending NONA, much to Natalia's fury. Fed up with taking the burden of her sister's problems, María abandons her. Natalia decides to use drug dealing, as another method to get the money paid for NONA, aligning herself with a student and drug dealer named Jordi, with whom he also has a fling. She is made fun of by Darío and Ernesto who warn her to be careful with what she's doing. Isabela then suspects Natalia to be the Honey Bunny, an unknown girl Pablo has been seeing behind Isabela's back (who is later revealed to be María), when the hacker texts her "The Honey Bunny is closer than you think". Natalia obviously denies this, stating that while being a thief, she's not a whore. After some sells at the school, Natalia manages to turn the money over to Rosita, then does more sells at the NONA party to pay off the other dealers. However, after Raúl is exposed by Sofía as the hacker, turning most of the student body against him, a fight escalates between all of them when he leaks all of their secrets. In the ennsuing fight, Natalia bumps into some people and ends up losing the money to pay the dealers with, while Raúl seizes the altercation to escape. Natalia then witnesses with the other students Javier's accident after being accidentally shot by Gerry, who threatened Raúl after finding out he is the hacker.

Season 2[]

Two months following Raúl's exposure as the hacker and Javier's accident, Natalia has her ups and downs regarding her economical situation as she and Jordi are threatened by the dealers into paying off the debts they owe to them, leading Natalia to try various ways to get the money, to no avail, using a bank check that is rejected and heading over to Raúl's house after he refused to lend her any money. Upon his sudden return to the school, a fight between him, Pablo and the other students escalate, which Natalia seizes to steal Raúl's keys to his house before the fight is broken up by Sofía by deliberately making some of the cars's alarms go off to get Quintanilla's attention, forcing the students to retreat to their homes. Once there, Natalia searches through the house, but instead finds Gerry there, realizing that Raúl has been hiding him from the police. However, she does not tell Sofía, who had seen personal belongings that aren't Raúl's, deflecting her suspicions of Gerry's presence with an alibi that she and Raúl were making out. After Sofía leaves, Natalia threatens to tell everyone about this but he uses her involvement with the drug dealers against her so that she won't say a word. Jordi contacts Natalia one last time to tell her that he is leaving the city to avoid being killed over the money and to stop calling him, despite Natalia saying she will get the money soon enough.

Meanwhile, Natalia starts taking a romantic interest for Javier, who agrees to support her with the money situation. Their constant closeness makes Sofía jealous; ironically, Javier also feels the same way when noticing that Sofía hasn't obviously gotten over Raúl, despite claiming that there is nothing between them (also citing that she will never forget what he did to the school) and that he might be helpful in locating the Avenger, another hacker who has been terrorizing the student body into demanding Gerry's surrender for his role in Luis's death. Natalia herself is also dragged into the Avenger's plot when they kidnap her and put her in a van, then throwing her out in front of the school. Javier and Sofía clash with each other over Natalia's encounter with the Avenger as Sofía finds her story unconvincing and believes that she knew their identity (her ripped dress and broken heel being probable leads), to which Javier accuses her of being jealous of their relationship.

After María overdoses at Rosita's birthday party and is hospitalized (albeit later discharged), Natalia finds out about her pregancy to Pablo and abortion; María states that Natalia is always hiding things from her so there was no reason to tell her, believing Natalia wouldn't care, even after how poorly she's been treating her regardless of the efforts she makes in pleasing her. Remorseful, Natalia promises María to always be there for her and stop hiding things from her. As another controversial method of getting the money, Natalia signs herself up through a sugar daddy app under the alias of Rosita Berry, with María teaming up with her this time. She is matched with an older guy named Gio who wants to meet at a restaurant but, to Natalia's surprise, he turns out to be none other than Javier's father. Damián. When he comments on how younger Natalia is and that he has daughter about the same age as her, she is immediately embarrassed and hurries out of the place. Natalia starts losing hope in getting the money, so her sister María contacts Damián pretending to be Natalia, meeting at a restaurant where María tries to explain the situation to Damián about the money, but is rejected. Nevertheless, he later contacts Natalia, agreeing to give her the money on the condition that she brings María with her. María tries to have everything recorded in her cellphone, but it immediately stops due to its low battery. Just then, Javier shows up and misinterprets the whole situation, believing that Natalia was only using him to get to his father. As a result, the angry Javier breaks up with Natalia who is frustrated because it is the last day she has to pay the dealers. When María suggests calling her parents for help, Natalia is quick to turn down the idea, fearing that the dealers might go after them, but also making María fear that they'll do the same to her. Refusing to give up, Natalia walks off to find another solution with the money, leaving María behind.

However, Natalia's last attempt is short-lived when the drug dealers eventually kidnap her (off-screen) and is seen lying unconscious as one of them contacts María to inform her about this and giving her an ultimatum: have their money paid by tonight or they will kill Natalia if the police gets involved. Claudia decides to help her and they steal Raúl's money hidden in Luis's locker (which was previously stolen from him by the Avenger, revealed to be Alex) to rescue her, but are caught by Susana before they can leave and go to the school roof where Javier, who has tipped them off about the money's location, threatens Raúl at gunpoint into giving him his money. Sofía, Javier, Raúl, María, Claudia and Susana get into a scuffle over the money bag, ending with Susana falling off the roof (or someone pushing her) to her apparent death, witnessed by a shocked Pablo who was waiting outside. Cued by María nodding her head, Pablo snatches the money and drives off, thus leaving Natalia's fate hanging by a thread at the end of the second season.

Trivia[]

  • Natalia is the only villain in the series overall who isn't inherently evil as most of her goals were mainly focused on her money issues when her own secret is leaked by the hacker, except for the school embezzlement which is basically the first if not only crime she's ever committed, not to mention her unwilling betrayal towards Isabela that led to the leaking of her secret. Even her desperate attempt to get money out of Javier's father to pay off the drug dealers was not out of malice.
    • When Isabela confronted Natalia for having her secret leaked by the hacker and the latter insisted that she (Isabela) at least tried to put herself in Natalia's shoes about the situation, Isabela simply replied "I would never do that to my best friend", which would mean that Isabela would've allowed her secret to be leaked rather than betraying her own friends. Ironically, most of them betrayed her before/after she was outed as a trans girl.
  • Paty Maqueo, who portrays Rosita in the series, had originally auditioned for the role of Natalia Alexander before Macarena García was cast.
  • With the third season due to be released in a few months, one of the promotional images confirms that Natalia is still alive and that her ransom has been payed.
