Nathara is the main antagonist of the 2017 British fantasy movie The Gaelic King. She is a sorceress that controls the shadow spirits and wishes to take over the kingdom as the ruler.

She was portrayed by Kerry Browne.

Biography[]

TheWitch

Nathara, the evil sorceress, before being imprisoned at first time.

Centuries ago, Nathara, the evil witch known by the name of Alchmoore, ruled the Gaelic kingdom with tyranny and oppression. Until one day, a wise and virtuous man gave the then king a solution to defeat her: surrender to her to be killed. However, instead of dying, the Gaelic king was seized by a supernatural power, known as "the king's power," using it to imprison Alchmoore / Nathara in a secret tomb below the castle, sealing the passage of the tomb with the "symbol of the king," who eventually becomes the symbol of the royal Gaelic lineage.

Centuries later, the rival Pict king, who invaded the kingdom and killed its king, in search of gold to plunder, ends up opening the secret chamber that sealed Alchmoor and unwittingly releasing a great evil, the evil sorceress, who has come to haunt that region, creating shadow warrior spirits from the souls of children that she has kidnapped.

In the present, when Warrior-King Alpin and his younger brother Finn appear in the thorp haunted by Shadow Warrior, the sorceress appears to the latter as a mysterious and seemingly benevolent woman, making the boy believe that she may be a fairy. After getting the boy's trust and making sure he belongs to a lineage of heirs to the throne, when he innocently hands her an amulet, she soon reveals herself as the sorceress responsible for the evil spirits that haunt the region, with two of them coming up behind her.

Upon revealing herself to Finn, Nathara takes him to a cave where he intends to use his blood in a ritual. However, his blood is useless for the ritual and the witch decides to use it to attract his brother, Alpin.

Trivia[]

  • In the flashback, before Nathara (Alchmoor) was imprisoned for the first time by the power of the Gaelic King, she wore dark, dark robes and probably wore them when she was released. Currently, she wears white, simple robes that do not seem to match her evil nature and continues to wear them even after revealing who she is, even when she is going to attack the village with her troops. The use of this innocent look was initially intended not to arouse suspicion about who she really was, which she did in fact with Alpin's brother and possibly with several other children she kidnapped.
