“ | Denizens of Syphozia, Nautilodaunts are a chilling reminder that those of the Deep are not simply mindless monsters, but can possess startling intelligence. They do not take a liking to human flesh, tending instead to experiment upon their fallen, inserting parasites into their victims. | „ |

Nautilodaunt are supporting antagonists in the Roblox game, Deepwoken.
They are a species of intelligent sea creatures that terrorize The Depths.
Description[]
Nautilodaunt resemble humanoid nautilus. Unlike their fellow creatures, they are highly intelligent, using a fist-based fighting style and capable of feinting, blocking and parrying incoming attacks. They also make use of a species of parasites to convert their prey into Mudskippers. Nautilodaunt appear much more malevolent than the other monsters of The Deep. Instead of hunting for food, they appear to kill for other reasons, as they do not eat their victims, convert their corpse into something inedible and they leave Petris alone as he is too scared and old to prove a threat. Furthermore, they are always found digging in the Celtor marketplace, as though searching for something. They are so infamously dangerous that even the expert Divers placed a bounty on their heads and the Voices of The Depths use them as a substitute for their Enforcers.
Occasionally, one may become a Fury Nautilodaunt, a far stronger Nautilodaunt imbued with the power of Thundercall, gaining yellow eyes and black skin.
Despite being, for all intents and purposes, monsters, they are unique in that they actively despise the taste of human flesh, calling into question what their unhinged aggression is due to.
Trivia[]
- They are inspired by the Kraeken from Salt and Sanctuary, Cthulhu from the H.P. Lovecraft mythos and Dagon from Jujutsu Kaisen.
- Many have drawn parallels between them and the Enforcers. Both are humanoid monsters with relatively low durability that make up for it with their intelligence that are meant to be fought in the endgame, are capable of feinting, blocking and parrying attacks, both draw inspiration from the game Salt and Sanctuary, the Enforcers are souls turned into monsters while Nautilodaunt turn people into monsters, both fight for reasons other than hunger or animal instinct and to reach them, one must enter from gates on opposite sides of the city.
