Navigator Gator is a member of the Great Star League Gozma serving as the navigator for their flagship Gozmard and a supporting antagonist in Dengeki Sentai Changeman.
He was voiced by the late Hiroshi Masuoka.
History[]
Three years prior to the start of Changeman, Gator was called away from his family by Star King Bazeu to become the Navigator for flagship Gozmard. Despite wishing to stay with his wife and child, Gator complied with Bazeu's order out of fear for what the tyrant would do if he refused.
Gator was later reunited with his son Waraji when he also comes to Earth with a special ocarina to play a tune his father taught him that would reunite the two to reunite if played. However, the ocarina was also capable of activating the Darosphere, a device capable of generating seismic activity on Earth to the point of destroying it. Though Gator did not want his son to be used as a pawn by Gozma to destroy Earth, Queen Ahames and Bazeu forced him to allow his son to keep playing it. Gator was eventually reunited with Waraji, until Zoorii came for him and took him away to keep his dad's profession a secret from him. After the Changeman foiled the scheme, Zoorii and Waraji chose to stay Earth to convince Gator to come home.
The song Gator taught Waraji is later revealed to be the "song of nostalgia", which gave all the aliens who heard it, including Gator, a desire to return to their homes. Bazeu then orders Gator to destroy the ocarina, leading Gator to go and confront his son. Gator revealed to his son his true profession as a member of the Gozma and tells him the only way for them to obtain peace is for him to help Bazeu. Waraji becomes disillusioned with his father upon hearing the truth and angrily breaks the ocarina, leading Gator to leave his family out of shame.
However, after hearing that his wife is pregnant with their second child, Gator ultimately chooses to abandon the Gozma and returns to his wife to witness the birth of their new daughter, Kuku. Gator remained with his family on Earth under the protection of the Earth Defense Force until Bazeu was finally killed, after which Gator and his family returned to their home planet Navi.
