Ooh! Easy Peasy!
~ Neal's introduction/Neal after slipping through a vent.

Neal the Eel is a minor antagonist in the Carmen Sandiego 2019 Netflix show.

He is the slipperiest V.I.L.E. operative shown in more ways than one!

He was voiced by Rhys Darby, who also voiced Duncan from Bob's Burgers and is a popular comedian.

Appearance[]

Neal appears as a lanky guy wearing a slippery V.I.L.E. skinsuit. He has also been seen wearing a leisurely outfit on top of this suit. He has long, black hair with small eyes, a long nose, and a buck-teethed grin. He is not in shape and is extremely skinny. His complexion is very pale, appearing almost white.

Personality[]

Neal is a cocky, unlikeable guy. He constantly has to rub Team Red's face in his success. Neal also has a knack for cracking eel puns. If someone fails at doing something, most likely trying to capture him, it's usually paired with a slick eel pun.

Oh, pretty slick! But I'm slicker!
~ Neal escaping the grasp of Shadowsan.

Neal does know how to give credit where credit is due however, as he says that Carmen's move of trapping him within the electrical barriers was, "Slick." Neal the Eel also cannot understand Mime Bomb, who uses motion to convey sentences. Neal has shown that he does not appreciate Mime Bomb as a partner in crime despite saying they make a good team.

Biography[]

Neal's early life is unknown. He was born in New Zealand and was at some point was hired as a V.I.L.E. operative.

Season 2[]

The Crackle Goes Kiwi Caper[]

Neal the Eel crept into a Russian military base to steal a hard drive loaded with classified information on how to create an ultimate EMP device for Dr. Saira Bellum. When Carmen and Shadowsan tried to steal back the data, Neal managed to slip away without much difficulty. Later, Carmen meets Neal in the hallway and they start to fight. Carmen Traps Neal in the electrical barriers causing him to be stuck in a small area for up to an hour. Bellum releases him when they find Carmen with Trip Wire (EMP) within reach. Neal is instructed to raise the sphere, which he does with the push of a button. Neal finds Carmen again and promptly puts his hands around her neck to stop her from moving before Graham zaps him with a crackle rod. Neal arrives on top of the tower to watch as Bellum accidentally detonates the EMP.

Season 3[]

The Masks of Venice Caper[]

Neal the Eel is blending in with the crowd in his leisurely wear when Zack and Ivy start to chase him, but he managed to slip away. Neal returns to steal the masks in the museum and zaps Shadowsan. Carmen throws down olive oil to make the floor to slippery for Neal, and he crashes into a display case. Neal and Mime Bomb get in their boat to pursue Carmen and take the box of masks from Carmen. When they retreat into an alcove and open the box, it is full of souvenir masks. Mime Bomb warns Neal about the authorities coming, but Neal misinterprets the warning, and Mime Bomb gives up leaving Neal to be tazed and arrested.

Season 4[]

The Beijing Boullion Caper[]

Neal and Mime Bomb are once again paired up in a caper. Neal and Lady Dokuso attempt to kidnap an important Chinese man named Huang Li to turn over a bullion to fund more of their crimes. Neal stalls for Lady Dokuso to poison Huang Li's tea so they can kidnap him, but they fail. Neal, that night, gets the bodyguard's unconscious body into a bin to hide him, posing as an employee. Lady Dokuso replaces Huang Li's makeup with a toxic one that knocks him out. Neal stuffs this body into a van to drive to the bullion. Neal's windshield was suddenly blocked, so he had to stop the van to remove the object, which gave Carmen and Ivy enough time to remove Huang Li and replace him with a disguised Zack. When Neal arrives to the bullion, the retina scan does not work, and Zack makes a run for it. Neal and other miscellaneous operatives give chase but are halted by a leak in sleeping gas.

Aftermath[]

Neal is now a wanted criminal, and is currently on the run from the police.
