~ Nedrick before he shapeshifts into Bahamut in the second part of his boss battle. |
Nedrick (ネデウ) is the main antagonist turned supporting protagonist of Dragalia Lost from Chapter 14 to Chapter 21. He is the real Seventh scion of Alberia whom Euden unknowingly replaced after he died of Dragon Scales. After being brought back to life via a pact with Bahamut, he becomes the leader and founder of Agito.
He was voiced by Kōki Uchiyama in the Japanese dub and Victor Hunter in the English dub who both voiced Euden in the same game and his otherworld counterpart.
Appearance[]
Nedrick is tall with black hair (Naturally Blonde before his pact with Bahamut) and black markings all over his face. He also has red and green eyes. He dons a black longcoat with black gloves, with the collar turning into purple flames in his Gala variant. In the ending, his hair turns back to his natural blonde hair and the facial markings are removed and wears white clothing instead of black and has green eyes without the red markings.
Personality[]
Nedrick is a merciless and cruel young man towards anyone who gets in his way. Although, he appears to be a calm and serious individual. He believes himself as the real 7th scion of Alberia while Euden soul was replaced into a new body made by Finlorda and the original body became Nedrick. He is shown to dislike friendships, believing other people to be a burden and only uses others for his own gains.
However, this was a result of Nedrick being alone and manipulated all his life, with his only companion Bahamut, manipulating him for his own gains and thus he mistrusts people, believing them to be using him for their own purposes. Upon bonding with Euden and acquiring Bahamut's pact, Nedrick begins to let down his guard and while still somewhat cold and callous, he becomes much more kind and gentle towards his friends.
Furthermore, Nedrick has shown to have a code of honour, always keeping his promises as when he obliges to reveal the truth of his plans to Euden and the party. While Nedrick has shown to be pragmatic to the point of being cold-hearted and unfeeling, he soon sheds these qualities as time goes by, becoming a full-fledged hero.
Biography[]
Born under the name of Euden, Nedrick was a young prince who suffered from the disease wyrmscale, and thus was frail and weak, entering critical condition just months after birth. His father King Aurelius rushed to the faerie kingdom to try and receive aid for his dying son from his friend the fae king Finlorda, which proved fruitless as the boy soon died just five months old. Fortunately, using his improved technique, Finlorda uses the flesh of the demon Morsayati to create a suitable vessel for the prince's soul to inhabit while keeping the original body. This vessel would grow up to become the protagonist of the game Euden.
Somehow, the Genesiswyrm Bahamut finds the young prince's body and revives it, along with giving it a new soul. Now named Nedrick, the young boy's strange connection to Bahamut caught the attention of Finlorda who began conducting research on the power he possessed. While he would actively try to interact with others, Nedrick would remain alone without human or faerie as a true friend, but deep down he always considered Bahamut his companion.
One day, Nedrick's body is forcibly taken over by Bahamut, and when he comes to he awakens to the faerie prince Jinlorda. There, he reveals that Bahamut doesn't view the boy as a friend and merely is using him as a pawn for his revival. Nedrick refuses to accept this but when Bahamut confirms it, he realises the depths of his loneliness and, accepting his solitude, vows to turn the tables one day. After another shapeshifting episode in which Nedrick erases half of the faerie kingdom from existence, Finlorda placed a seal on him which would prevent further, extended shapeshifting episodes.
With his research, Finlorda lets Nedrick off, where he decides to learn swordfighting from Jinlorda and becomes his closest friend, though neither want to admit it. At some point, Nedrick learns of the Progenitor's impending return and, acquiring the Agito masks, passes them onto the members of the Agito, hoping to form a group that he would use to assist him in acquiring the Dawnshard.
He allows the members of Agito to do their own thing when he doesn't need them, calling them when he does, such as when he sends Volk to go collect Zethia from the Halidom crew after Beren absorbs Morsayati. After Volk was defeated, while Elisanne is taking Zethia back to the Halidom, he approached her and attacked Elisanne and kidnapped Zethia.
Eventually Euden's group catches up to Nedrick and demands him to release Zethia. Not only does Nedrick refuse, he forces the party to fight a brainwashed Valyx. After Valyx fights Nedrick's control over him to the point of collapsing, Nedrick reveals to Euden that he is the real seventh scion of Alberia while presenting Euden with the royal family's book in order to prove it. He then touches the jewel on the book and orders Zethia and Euden to do the same. The jewel glows for Zethia and Nedrick, but does not for Euden, causing the prince to shatter. Zena and Zethia then attempt to warp everybody to safety. However, Nedrick threatens Zethia that he will find and kill everybody if she leaves, which prompts Zethia to stay behind.
He went to the faerie forest with Zethia and Valyx and met the faerie king Jinlorda. Nedrick is willing to obtain the dawnshard from the sacred tree.
In Chapter 21, he and Euden teamed up, even though he doesn’t consider him as thrustworthy to stop the Holywyrm Elysium. He attempts to obtain the dawnshard to complete his pact with Bahamut. However, Zethia appears and stops him from obtaining the shard. Ilia comes and prevents him from taking the dawnshard. When he took the dawnshard, he was teleported to some throne room. Zethia uses the blade given by Ilia to stop him and return to the real world. Zethia now uses half of Bahamut's power.
In Chapter 22, his past is yet to be revealed to Euden. While Euden's final showdown with Nedrick, Bahamut interrupts the battle. Nedrick transformed into Bahamut and couldn't control the shapeshift. He later joined forces with Euden to defeat Bahamut and Euden begins to look at his past and finds out what Nedrick's true intentions are. Nedrick couldn't forge a life as a human or a faerie and he feels completely alone.
He and Euden worked together to stop Bahamut and Jinlorda teleports everyone back. However, Bahamut takes control of Zethia. Later, in Zethia's mind they destroy Bahamut and later face Nedrick. After Nedrick submits, Audric disappears and tells him that someday he will be with someone to share his burdens.
In Chapter 23, he went with Zethia, Jinlorda, and Ilia to discover the history about the Progenitor, Morsayati, Alberius, Elysium, and the Greatwyrm at the Sacred Tree.
Powers and Abilities[]
Nedrick is quite skilled in combat, he fights with a sword and uses the power of darkness. He uses partial of Bahamut's power due to Zethia taking half of his power and can still transform into him.
