~ Nergal, before confronting Dracula |
Nergal Meslamstea is the second of Satan's Acolytes, and a major antagonist in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2.
He was voiced by Alastair Parker.
Biography[]
In his human identity, Nergal owned one of the world's largest weapon manufacturer as its cooperate head. Using his resources and wealth, Nergal made a huge influence in the laws of Castlevania City by ensuring that everyone in the city, from normal citizens to police, all wielded arms.
Exploiting his influential status as well as the crisis brought by Raiza's demonic plague, Nergal had his produced weapons - machine guns, jet packs, giant robots known as the Riot Mechs and so on - sold to the police in town. However, the weapons his company made had contained Nergal's demonic energy, which corrupted their wielders' sanity.
Nergal's mechanics turned the city's police troops, of which was trained to protect citizens, into psychos known as the Riot Police that would massacre anyone on sight whether they were infected or not, as well as ransacking the town for any personal gain. Like Raisa, Nergal also secretly plotted Satan's return with his plans and hoped to gain his father's reward for his hard work.
Nergal made his formal appearance after Victor Belmont sacrificed himself to summon the Acolyte. After being confronted by Dracula, Nergal attempted to electrocute Dracula as a tribute to Satan, planning to drag Dracula's soul straight into hell, but Dracula managed to lure him into his castle and weakened Nergal.
Nergal then used his gambit to possess a trio of nearby statues (known as the Riders of the Storm) and made them attack Dracula, but that also failed into killing him. After destroying the statues, Dracula managed to defeat Nergal and crushed his head underneath his boot, killing the second Acolyte.
