~ Lance Lanconi about the fire of Rome. |
Nero is the main protagonist of Macabre's song "Nero's Inferno". Based on the infamous Roman emperor of the same name, the Nero in the song is depicted as being just as evil as, if not worse than, his real-life counterpart, enjoying murdering random people through methods such as biting off their genitals.
Biography[]
As mentioned in the song, Nero was the most despicable leader the Roman Empire ever had. As a young man he used to enjoy pouncing on random people in the streets and stabbing them to death. Later in life when he was emperor he would dress in animal skins and tie people to stakes before biting off their genitals.
As in real life Nero incessantly persecuted the Christians, enjoying watching them being fed to starving animals in the Colosseum. When he wanted a new palace he simply destroyed his old one by having all of Rome burned to the ground. As Rome burned Nero watched and played the lyre. After Rome was destroyed he blamed it on the Christians and amped up his persecution, having them burned alive all over the Empire. He then built an even more lavish palace to replace his old one.
At some point after this he abducted a young boy named Sporus, castrated him and dressed him as his bride, forcing him to marry him and raping him afterwards. At the wedding he ensured light by having captured Christians brought forward and turning them into human candles. He also killed his mother by ripping out her womb to see where he came from.
Eventually the Roman people grew tired of their tyrant's rule and rebelled against him. Nero's palace was surrounded and he slit his own throat with help from his secretary rather than fall into the hands of his subjects.
