But they were not to remain unchallenged. The Enderknights returned during these dark times, long having been guardians of the Overworld. The two opposing realms clashed with a fury of inconceivable power. Yet the Nether had prepared well for this invasion, and even the legendary Enderknights could not stop them.

Netherans are the overarching antagonists of the animated web series, Songs of War.
Originating from the Nether Realm, they are warriors feared across Ardonia for their relentless takeovers. Led by King Chronos, they attempted to conquer the Overworld and even allied with the Voltaris Clan to increase their odds. Even though the they ultimately lost the Great War, the wounds they inflicted will affect Ardonia forever.
Possibly as an adaptation to their hellish environment in the Nether Realm, the Netherans have tough skin that acts as built-in armor. Their bodies are dark with fiery, orange patterns, similar to the texture of lava. The weapons they wield are usually iron, such as Pythus's axe or Vulcannus's sword. The only exception is King Chronos's Netherblade, which signifies his powerful position.
Thanks to their weaponry and rough habitat, the Netherans are formidable fighters, even able to beat Enderknights in a fight. They are also intelligent, able to strategically plan out their Overworld invasion and form a powerful alliance with the Voltaris Clan.

The Deathsinger met with King Chronos of the Nether, and formed the most powerful alliance ever known. And thus began the Great War.

One and a half centuries before the events of the series, the Netherans began their invasion on the Overworld, intending to burn down its cities and conquer all the land. Hyperia and Cydonia were some of the first cities to be attacked. With the help of Withers, Ghasts, Blazes, and hordes of Undead, the Netheran's invasion was unstoppable, even with the legendary Enderknights fighting back. Meanwhile, the Voltaris Clan returned from their banishment, but had no allies due to Ingressus's crimes. With nowhere left to go, the Voltaris met with King Chronos and formed a nearly unstoppable alliance with the Nether. The Great War had started.
With their combined forces, all of Ardonia combined their strengths to deter the invasive threat, all tied together by Achilean Nestoris, otherwise known as the Tidesinger. The united powers were too overwhelming for the Nether army. King Chronos and the rest of his army retreated back into the Nether, leaving the Voltaris behind. Unable to fend for themselves, the remaining Voltaris fled to Mt. Velgrin, siginaling the end to the Great War.
Aside from the opening prologue, the Netheran's only other appearance is in Abbigail's dream. Here, Pythus steps into a castle, spreading the Nether's corrupting influence into the End. This sudden appearance caused Abbigail to fall off a ledge and wake up.
Despite their minimal appearances in Season 1, the Netherans were planned to become the main antagonists, taking the title from the Voltaris Clan. Pythus was supposed to overthrow his father, King Chronos and start the Second Great War.
Netherans as seen in Alex and Steve Adventures.
In Alex and Steve Adventures, another series created by Squared Media, a species extremely reminiscent of Netherans can be seen, mainly the in the episode "Nether VS The End." They appear to be a remastered version of the Songs of War Netherans, judging by their higher quality textures and animations. The leader in particular resembles Pythus, especially down to the axe. Just like the originals, the new Netherans have a rivalry with the End.
Though they have no lines in Season 1, scripts of the unpublished seasons show that they are capable of speaking.
