Neville Townsend is the main antagonist of the season 8 of The Blacklist. He was a powerful crime lord with a dreaded reputation who witnessed his family getting murdered because of the Sikorsky Archive and the N-13 conspiracy. He was completely devastated over the death of his wife and children and sought to get vengeance on Raymond Reddington for his perceived role in his family's murder.

He is portrayed by Reg Rogers.

Personality[]

Townsend was depressed over the passing of his family and became obsessed with obtaining knowledge on N-13. He has little to no patience for his men failing him and would resort to physically beating them as punishment. He is also willing to kill his close associates, if need be, to advance his goals. In spite of his depression and pain, Townsend is shown to go to extreme measures in pursuing his targets such as endangering the lives of the locals in a town Reddington was residing at in order to murder Reddington.

When he found out a connection between Elizabeth Keen and Raymond Reddington, Townsend turns towards the goal of murdering Keen knowing that her death would break Reddington. Townsend similarly to Reddington, believed in getting equal with his enemies and thought that killing Keen would show Reddington the pain that Townsend experienced when he lost his family.

Biography[]

Townsend ran an illegal business operation in Russia and was caught up in the N-13 and Sikorsky Archive conspiracy. As a result of his involvement with powerful individuals in connection to N-13 and the Sikorsky Archive they had his wife and children murdered in front of him. Having witnessed the death of his family members, Townsend fell into depression but managed to maintain his criminal organization and grow in power over the years. At some point, he managed to move to the United States to continue his businesses.

After Reddington killed Tatiana Petrova in front of Elizabeth Keen and kept keeping secrets from her, Keen rebelled against Reddington vowing to destroy him and slowly got into contact with Townsend and his organization. Keen and Townsend managed to maintain an allegiance to one another despite not fully trusting each other. Convinced that Reddington played a role in his family's murder, Townsend would go after Reddington and would kill individuals such as Captain Kidd who became a liability to him over time. At one point, Townsend and his men followed Reddington to a town where his lover, Anne, resided in order to extract and kill Reddington which led to his men shooting up a police station that Reddington and Anne was in until Reddington was able to evade him and Townsend left.

Townsend continued to go after Reddington which at one point led to him capturing Ivan Stepanov to torture him into giving him more information on N-13 and the Sikorsky Archive. After finding out this information, Townsend decides to turn against Elizabeth Keen to murder her. As Reddington tries to save Keen, Keen still fought against Reddington but the two managed to escape from Townsend and his men. Townsend hired the Protean to go after Keen which led to him murdering all of Keen's underlings and her half-sister until the Protean was killed. He continued his mission in going after Elizabeth Keen with no sign of giving up getting his revenge which led to Reddington trying to save her.

After Keen reunites with Reddington to which the latter decides to reveal to her the Sikorsky Archive, Townsend follows them to the island of the Sikorsky Archive in order to kill them. Reddington revealed information to Townsend about the Sikorsky Archive and N-13. However, Reddington had the building they were in blown up killing Townsend.

In spite of his death, Townsend's right-hand, Charles VanDyke, with the assistance of Marvin Gerard, was able to locate and kill Elizabeth Keen in front of Raymond Reddington to fulfill Townsend's revenge.
