Appalachia belongs to us, And there ain't no one who can prove me wrong!
~ Meg Groberg

The New Appalachia Raiders or simply Raiders are major antagonists in Fallout 76 introduced in Wastelanders with Meg and Edwin's gangs acting as Anti-Heroes. They are mostly descendants of the original Appalachia raider gangs that left to save themselves from the Scorched Plague and came back.

Story[]

The New Appalachia Raiders are essentially a group of the original Raiders that lived in Appalachia before being forced to flee at the hands of the Scorchbeasts and many others gathered by former Diehard Raider Meg Groberg to reestablish their presence in the region, using the wreckage of the crashed Valiant-1 space station in the Toxic Valley as their new base of operations, managing to transform it into The Crater, their new, and permanent, home in Appalachia. After returning to Appalachia in the year 2103, 26 years after the Great War that devastated the United States in nuclear fire, and one year after Vault 76 opened, due to rumors of hidden treasure in the region, and learning that the residents of Vault 76 have been recolonizing the region, it was time for the Raiders to make their presence known again.

Raiders are initially hostile to all Vault 76 residents until completing the quest "Strange Bedfellows" at the request of the Vault 76 Overseer to protect them from the Scorched Plague and prevent them from becoming Scorched Wildlife, thus giving the Scorchbeasts another chance to have their queen spread her influence beyond Appalachia. Once Meg learns of the threat of the Scorchbeasts and Scorched Plague, she agrees to have her Raiders inoculated with the vaccine that the Vault 76 residents had worked on to complete the late Responders' work at AVR Medical Center in Charleston. After being vaccinated and protected from being more of the Scorchbeast Queen's loyal minions, Meg is later told of the "treasure" that everyone came back to Appalachia for: The United States gold bullion from Fort Knox, safely locked away in Vault 79 in the event of nuclear war. After having the Vault 76 residents help her round up a team to hit the Vault with, then seeing if the residents wish to aid them in the raid or learn of it being done with the Settlers instead, Meg has her team hit the vault.

She remains outside to keep an eye out for trouble while the Vault 76 residents head inside with Gail, Ra-Ra, and Johnny Weston to find the gold, rescuing the surviving U.S. Secret Service agents trapped in the Vault in the process. Once the agents are rescued and the gold is located, Meg arrives to meet the agents and get her cut of the gold for helping with the raid. The Vault 76 residents can either keep all 1000 bullion for themselves, split it 50/50 with Meg so both get 500 bullion, or agree to split it with both the Raiders and Settlers, with both factions each getting 250 while the residents get the other 500. Once it is done, Meg heads back to The Crater, and upon being spoken to, is happy to have someone like the Vault 76 residents on her side instead of being an enemy, seeing their talents as a valuable asset to the Raiders.

Continuing to help the Raiders with daily missions for Wren and Rocksy will continue to bolster reputation with them, allowing for more merchandise to be bought from their shops for either caps or gold bullion, including weapon plans, weapon mod plans, armor plans, armor mod plans, and items for the C.A.M.P..

However, when the Brotherhood First Expeditionary Force arrives in Appalachia from New California to reestablish the Brotherhood's presence in the region, Meg is wary of them, and assigns three of her Raiders to keep an eye on them.
