Colonel Nicolae Dumitrescu is one of the two main antagonists of the 2010 video game Ace Combat: Joint Assault. He is the leader of the terrorist group Valahia, seeking to establish a new communist nation. Unbeknownst to many at first, he and his organization were involved in the so-called "Golden Axe Plan" envisioned by Andre Olivieri.
He was voiced by Kōno Masahiro in Japanese, and by Peter von Gomm in English.

Past[]
Nicolae Dumitrescu was born in 1960s in communist Romania. He grew up to become a staunch communism supporter, and served as a colonel of the Romanian secret police. However, once the communist regime was toppled, which somehow resulted in Nicolae losing his family, he fled Romania. His belief in communism was left unshaken, and he held a disdain towards the capitalist world order. He eventually joined efforts with like-minded individuals to form Valahia, a paramilitary organization with the goal of restoring the old order on the post-Soviet bloc space. He and his organization were later hired by Andre Olivieri, the head of an American insurance company, to cause massive damage to cities across the world, including Tokyo and London, which Olivieri would then refund as part of his "Golden Axe Plan".
Joint Assault[]
When Valahia's flying fortress Orgoi began its assault on Tokyo, the Martinez Security PMC sent its Antares and Rigel Squadrons to support Japan's army in defending the city. During the battle, however, Dumitrescu contacted the Rigel Squadron and offered them to defect to his side, to which they agreed.
Nicolae eventually turned on Olivieri, viewing him as a nuisance, and attempted to have him killed while he was flying over the Valahian territory in Turkey. From that point on, he continued to pursue his own goal, seizing an old nuclear silo in Central Asia and issuing an ultimatum to the world, threatening to nuke a number of cities if his demands were not met. Antares Squadron infiltrated the silo and destroyed the control facilities, preventing the nukes from being launched and causing an explosion that killed Dumitrescu, but not before he revealed the existence of the "Golden Axe Plan" to his enemies. After his death, Valahia ceased to operate and disbanded.
Personality[]
Dumitrescu was a die-hard communist supporter, believing the capitalist society to be thoroughly rotten. He was utterly obsessed with his goal of re-estabilshing the old world order in Eastern Europe, being ready to cause untold amount of deaths and destruction just to make the international society meet his demands. He valued his ideals much more than material belongings, and proved to be impossible to be controlled by a leash of money, as Olivieri learned the hard way.
