Nigel is the main antagonist of the Talking Tom & Friends episode "The Bad Germ".
Initially, Nigel was the caring yet still slightly rude, and obnoxious older brother of Jeremy, but he quickly reveals himself as a genocidal germ who wants to eradicate all life in the city. This arguably makes Nigel one of Tom and the gangs far more dangerous and evil enemies. He's also, the archenemy of his brother Jeremy.
He is voiced by James Adomian who also voiced Bane In Harley Quinn.
History[]
Background[]
Nigel, grew up with his younger brother Jeremy who he seemingly loved and looked out for. Though in reality, he secretly hated Jeremy for being "the worst brother". He also, claimed that the whole family hated Jeremy as well (it's currently unknown, weather Nigel is actually telling the truth about the whole family resenting Jeremy, or if it was a petty attempt to hurt his brother), as he gives no reason on why the rest of the family would want to hate Jeremy. He also, at an unknown point, decided that he wanted to take over the city, and let germs take it over, and rule as it's leader.
There's also, a popular fan theory on YouTube which states that Nigel may have been the germ that infected Hank on his birthday in the episode "Hank's TV Party!", as a way to hint at his return to his brother, who even questions what germ made Hank sick. Though, there's very little in universe evidence of this.
Talking Tom and Friends[]
He first appears, exiting the bathroom, were he quickly greets his younger brother, while claiming to have been looking for him for some time. After a brief introduction to the gang, he reveals to Jeremy that he plans to 'split' (through the usage of Mitosis). He asks his brother to hang out for the night, which Tom, and Hank are very reluctant to allow, due to both not knowing Nigel, and not risk Jeremy potentially going back to his old ways.
Over the night, him and Jeremy would vandalize the city in many fashions, causing the whole town to hate both germs. They then, trash Tom, and Ben's garage in a hyperactive excitement. The next day, Nigel is confronted by Jeremy, who as result of their actions the previous night, lost his space at the cooking festival. Nigel then, convinced Jeremy that it's both his friends, and the town's fault, not theirs (though mostly Nigel's), as a way to manipulate Jeremy into helping in his plan. Jeremy, then goes back to his old ways, believing that Tom and the gang had simply been using him, and pretending to be his friend.
They then, trash both the festival, and the whole city, and then make their way into the sewers to enact his plan. He then, instructs Jeremy to directly flood the city, though because of Jeremy's physical weakness, he isn't able to do so, this buys Tom and the gang time to try and redeem him. Overhearing this, he confronted the gang, were Nigel then split as a way to combat them, and buy Jeremy time to successfully flood the town.
After a lengthy fight, the gang successfully get through to Jeremy, and once again redeem him, much to Nigel's anger who then orders three of his children to overflow the city instead. However, an enraged Jeremy stops them, and beats down all of his brother's children, before finally reaching Nigel himself. Nigel then, cruelly taunts Jeremy, only for him to both be ignored by his brother, and be pushed into the sewer water, ironically the one he intended to overflow the city with. It's currently unknown what happened to Nigel after this, as he isn't seen in person for the rest of the series.
He is later, considered a potential suspect for the gangs mysterious imprisonment, by Bongo, and McGillicuddy, but they quickly ignored him due to both being more concerned about Jeremy, and Nigel's ambiguous fate.
Personality[]
Nigel is the complete opposite of Jeremy in terms of personality. Whereas Jeremy is a reformed germ, Nigel's primary objective is to infect those around him. He is generally very dirty, eats trash and litters on the ground. He also seeks city-wide destruction, as he plotted to flood the city with sewer water. This also, makes him one of the most dangerous antagonists the gang has faced.
He is also very manipulative as he tricked Jeremy to return to his old self and assist him in his attempt to flood the city.
Appearance[]
Nigel appears to be slightly bigger than Jeremy. He is green with orange spots, green eyes, eyelids and a tongue.
Abilities[]
Natural Abilities[]
Manipulation: He is able to manipulate Jeremy fairly easily, and successfully convinced the gang for a while, that he isn't evil.
Strength: Unlike his brother, he is actually able to take the gang on in a fight, holding them off, alongside his children for at least a couple minutes. Though he was still beaten by his brother, though this is likely only because Jeremy had a weapon, while Nigel was defenceless.
Mitosis: Nigel is able to reproduce and split into separate, identical germs, in control of the amount of the germs he would like to create.
Trivia[]
- In The Germinator, Jeremy had to be grown in order to be seen by everyone. Nigel, however, is already this size. It is unknown if he was always this size, or got grown in some other way. Though, this maybe an error on both the show's creator, and writers part.
- He has the tied second highest attempted kill count in the series alongside Skip Flipper, and only behind Zappers.
