~ Pinchley flirting with Lois Griffin |
Nigel Pinchley is the main antagonist of the Family Guy episode "One if by Clam, Two if by Sea". He is a British businessman and con artist who buys The Drunken Clam, burns it down for the insurance money, and frames Peter Griffin and his friends for the crime.
He is voiced by series creator Seth MacFarlane, who also voiced Peter, Brian, and Stewie Griffin, Carter Pewterschmidt, Darth Stewie, Emperor Carter, Retep, Stewie Wilkes, and Evil Stewie in the same series, as well as Stan and Roger Smith in American Dad! and Mike in the Sing franchise.
Overview[]
Nigel is a British businessman who moves to Quahog, Rhode Island with his toddler-aged daughter, Eliza. Unbeknowst to the town's residents, he plans to buy the Drunken Clam, Peter Griffin's favorite bar, and burn it down so he can collect the insurance money.
In "One if by Clam, Two if by Sea"[]
Upon moving to Quahog, he immediately charms the citizenry, especially Lois Griffin, with his British accent and impeccable manners. Peter and his friends Glenn Quagmire, Cleveland Brown, and Joe Swanson resent him for turning the Drunken Clam into a British-style pub, however, so they steal his beer and dump it in Quahog Harbor, in imitation of the Boston Tea Party.
The next day, however, Peter and Lois discover that the bar has been burned down. Peter, Quagmire, Cleveland, and Joe are arrested and imprisoned for committing the arson because their homemade "Quahog Patriots" sign is discovered at the scene of the crime.
Soon after their imprisonment, however, Lois, Cleveland's wife Loretta, and Joe's wife Bonnie find out from Nigel's insurance agent that he took out a $5 million insurance policy on the bar.
Convinced that Nigel committed the arson and framed their husbands, Lois, Loretta, and Bonnie devise a plan to catch him. At Eliza's birthday party, Lois distracts Nigel by going on a tour of the house with him, while Loretta and Bonnie search for evidence of his crimes. She flirts with him, claiming that she "loves a reckless man", prompting Nigel to brag that he once played cricket without shin guards and rang someone's doorbell and ran away. When she asks him to tell her more, he blurts out that he burned down the Drunken Clam and framed Peter. Nigel's insurance agent, who had been hiding in the closet, hears everything, and turns Nigel in to the police. Lois then frees Peter and his friends, and the Drunken Clam's former owner, Horace, buys it back.
Nigel, meanwhile, is found guilty of his crimes and hanged.
