Nightbird is one of two secondary antagonists (alongside Battletrap) of the 2023 film Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, the second installment of the rebooted Transformers film series. She is one of the Terrorcons, Scourge's ninja assassin.
She is voiced by Michaela Jaé Rodriguez.
Personality[]
Nightbird is a ruthless warrior that enjoys the great of the battle or opponents that can pick a fight. This is why she was disappointed with the lack of resistance within the Autobots but was excited to have a real fight from the Maximals when she and the other Terrorcons saw Airazor showing up to save Optimus and the rest of his team.
She is also very arrogant due to her rushing into battle head on against a revived Bumblebee during the final battle at Peru. This would eventually prove to be her undoing, as Nightbird is killed a few seconds later.
Biography[]
In 1994, Nightbird was one of the many Terrorcons who came to Earth looking for the Transwarp key, under the orders of Unicron. During the attack on the museum on Ellis Island, Nightbird engaged the Autobot group of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Mirage and Arcee, and their human allies, Noah and Elena. She flew with her rocket thrusters, surprising Mirage. As the Autobots didn't put much of a fight, Airazor arrived, finding the Maximal to be a great challenge. However, she was forced to retreat when Scourge got the key shortly after killing Bumblebee. When Scourge telepathically contacted Unicron, Nightbird watched as their master tortured Scourge because he only had one half of the key.
Nightbird and the other Terrorcons traced the humans and the Autobots to Peru. Believing the humans found the other half of the Transwarp key, Scourge sent Freezer after Noah and Elena. While Freezer attacked the humans, Battletrap and Nightbird went after Mirage, Arcee, and Wheeljack. She attempted to run Mirage off of the road. However, Arcee and Wheeljack triggered an avalanche that ran her off of the road instead. Airazor destroyed the bridge to prevent Scourge, Nightbird, and Battletrap from going after them. While Nightbird believed the Autobots were effortlessly getting chase, Scourge disbelieved this. Instead, he told her they wouldn't escape for long because of the corruption he inflicted on Airazor.
Scourge was successful in taking the key when a corrupted Airazor delivered it to him. Nightbird was present when he started to open a space portal for Unicron to come through. However, Nightbird and the other Terrorcons engaged the Maximals and the Autobots. Noticing Noah (in Mirage's exosuit) fighting Scourge, Nightbird attacked him and lifted him off the bridge. However, a spear thrown by Cheetor knocked her captive out of her clutches. Instead, Nightbird and a horde of Freezers started attacking Noah near a pool of lava. However, a newly revived Bumblebee arrived on Stratosphere, sky dived and started shooting from above. He shot and killed all of Nightbird's Freezers, saving Noah and allowing him to rejoin the battle. Bumblebee latched onto her rocket, using Nightbird as a robot shield when Scourge started shooting at him. He ripped off one of Nightbird's wings and stabbed her with it in her spark. Nightbird exploded, with her body being broken into a million pieces and raining down, with nothing but Nightbird's sword remaining.
