Biography[]
Mortal Kombat (2011)[]
Nightwolf acted as one of Raiden's champions in the Mortal Kombat tournaments, and stood against Shao Kahn's invasion of Earthrealm, acting as Raiden's second in command. However, while he managed win several battles, Nightwolf and his fellow warriors faced the empowered Sindel, who killed the majority of the group, and Nightwolf was left as the only one standing against her. He sacrificed himself to destroy her by vaporizing the both of them in a pillar of light. Afterwards, his soul, along with the rest of the dead Earthrealm defenders, was taken by Quan Chi and he was reborn as a Revenant. He was among the revenants who fought Raiden in the Netherrealm, but was defeated by his former ally.
Mortal Kombat X[]
In the subsequent Netherrealm War, Revenant Nightwolf served Quan Chi and Shinnok. During the battle for the Sky Temple, Nightwolf and several demons arrived via portal to aid his fellow Revenants Smoke and Jax when they were ambushed by the Special Forces. Nightwolf fought with and was defeated by the swordsman Kenshi. Decades later, Nightwolf and his fellow Revenants rode on horseback to Quan Chi's fortress to free Shinnok, but found themselves battling Earthrealm forces. Nightwolf attempts to fight the soldiers by throwing tomahawks at them as a wounded Quan Chi is led to his fortress by Liu Kang, but ultimately retreats when Earthrealm gets the upper hand.
Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath[]
While the Revenant Nightwolf does not appear in the main game, he appears as an antagonist in the DLC. In the Aftermath timeline, the younger Nightwolf, Fujin and Shang Tsung were captured in Shinnok's Bone Temple, and the Revenant Nightwolf guarded them. After they broke out, Revenant Nightwolf fought Fujin, Shang Tsung while Sindel battled his human counterpart. Nightwolf managed to grievously wound Tsung with his lightning, tortuously electrocuting him before his human self broke the spell. Vowing to kill his younger self in spite of his own potential death, he refused to listen to his younger self's plea that Kronika was not worth following, and rejected his faith in the Great Spirit, considering her a fraud. Battling his younger self, he was defeated, but began having his soul stolen by the injured Tsung. Despite the younger Nightwolf's plea that the Revenant could be restored, he and Fujin had to let Shang Tsung heal himself, and the Revenant Nightwolf died.
