The Nihil are the main antagonistic faction of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia series.
They were a faction of anarchistic marauders that plagued the Galactic Frontier during the High Republic Era that placed their personal freedoms and meritocratic ideology above all else. The most hated foes of the marauders were the Galactic Republic and the mystical Jedi Order, as both groups defended innocent lives and were therefore in direct opposition to the Nihil way of life.
What set the Nihil apart from other pirate organizations was their sheer fanaticism and the "Paths," a set of secret hyperspace lanes that allowed them to strike unconventionally and unexpectedly almost anywhere in the galaxy. The leaders of the Nihil were referred to as Tempest Runners, although their authority was later superseded by Marchion Ro, the Custodian of the Paths, who had a personal vendetta against the Jedi and the Republic.

- The Nihil are unique villains in the Star Wars franchise. Unlike most villains like the Sith, they lack any loyalty to any ideology, which makes them more frightening.
