Nikki or Nicky (Funimation dub) is one of Garlic Jr.'s original trio of henchmen and a villain from the Dragon Ball Z movie, Dead Zone.
He was voiced by Shigeru Chiba in the Japanese version, and by Paul Dobson in Ocean Group dub, Doug Burks in Funimation dub and Ed Marcus in AB Groupe dub in the English version.
History[]
Nikki first appeared along with his cohorts, Ginger and Sansho when they attacked Piccolo and seemed to destroy him, therefore killing their master's enemy Kami. Later they set out to find the Dragon Balls, tracking the Four Star Ball to Son Goku's home where they found it on Son Gohan's hat. After Ginger incapacitated Chi-Chi and Gyumao, Sansho cut off Gohan's hat, but his comrade could capture him. After Garlic Jr. decided to keep Gohan around to train him, Nikki was charged with keeping track of him, something Gohan went to great lengths to make difficult. Nikki finally stopped for a break and plucked a piece of fruit from a tree in the palace courtyard. Gohan took one as well and took a bite of it, despite his keeper's warnings not to, turning him quite delusional, something Nikki said would happen if children ate the fruit. Later when Kami and Goku arrived at Garlic Jr's palace, Nikki and his cohorts went to intercept Goku who set off to find his son. Upon seeing how strong the Saiyan was, the trio let loose their battle cries and grew in size and strength (In Nikki's case, "Tutti Frutti!") They then engaged Goku in combat and eventually the fight found its way to a balcony outside. Nikki pulled a sword out of his leg to put things more in his favor, only to be knocked into a tower nearby by Goku's nyoibo. He started to pull himself out of the rubble, only to be hit by a Kamehameha wave from Goku that also took out Ginger.
Power[]
Nikki has the typical powers of most Dragon Ball characters, namely superhuman abilities and energy attacks. However he does have the unique ability to pull out sword-like appendages. Ginger has a similar ability.
Trivia[]
- Nikki seems to have a fondness for fruit. When he helps to kidnap Gohan, he eats a few pears and then later the fruit from the tree in Garlic Jr's courtyard. His battle cry may be a reference to this.
- Nikki's name is a pun on the Japanese word for Cinnamon.
- Nikki's name is later reused during the Imperfect Cell Saga, when Cell absorbs the inhabitants of Nicky Town.
