I have had enough of control, enough of watching people put themselves in cages, of watching them push away the chaos when the chaos is what makes them who they are.

Biography[]

Past[]

There's this old story. These people in a cave, never seeing the sun, feeling its warmth. But they knew it was out there and they feared it. Anything outside the dark, it had to be evil. Well, one day, one of them got out. he saw the sun, felt its warmth, and he knew it was good. The world was so much bigger than the cave. But even through he was free, he came back. He couldn't abandon them, her little people. He said, “Let's go. Let's see the light.” They called him...'Monster'. They couldn't believe anything outside the cave could be good be better. They... stayed... and he couldn't get out.
~ The Nine-Headed Demon

The Nine-Headed Demon, who came from a chaotic realm that exists beyond the known universe, eventually found himself in the Mortal Realm. Nüwa, the creator of humanity, viewed the chaos from the demon's original home as a potential danger to mankind, fearing it could lead to the destruction of the universe. The demon sought to inspire the humans, encouraging them to embrace the chaos and the freedom it offered. However, the humans, frightened by the unknown, rejected his message and branded him a monster. They clung to their familiar lives, unwilling to venture beyond their comfort zones. Despite the demon's attempts to reveal the wonders of the world outside their limited existence, he became increasingly isolated, trapped within the confines of the standard universe. This rejection deeply affected him, causing him to abandon his dreams of heroism and intensifying his longing to escape back to his chaotic realm, where he felt truly free.

Eventually, he became the tenth King of the Underworld, a role in which he was supposed to deliver justice to those who had lost their way from virtue. Yet, the members of the court remained oblivious to the truth that the Nine-Headed Demon originated from the chaotic realm.

Eager to return to his realm, the Nine-Headed Demon plotted to unleash a disastrous event that was originally prophesied to occur an eon later. According to the prophecy, the Pillar of Heaven would be destroyed at the conclusion of the next Great Cycle, threatening to plunge the universe into destruction as the chaos from the outside realm seeped in. However, this chaos would be countered by the Harbinger of Chaos, a monkey born from a magical stone crafted by Nüwa, who would ultimately sacrifice himself to save the universe by entering the Pillar of Heaven. This revelation led the Nine-Headed Demon to discover MK, the Harbinger of Chaos. In a bid to hasten the catastrophic event, the Nine-Headed Demon shattered MK's magic stone, causing him to be born prematurely. This drastic action not only brought MK into existence sooner than intended but also significantly altered his genetic makeup. The Nine-Headed Demon was convinced that this interference would enable MK to break free from the fate that had been laid out for him.

Season 4[]

Azure, who gave you that scroll? Because whoever it was, they must have known this would happen. Wanted this to happen! And they used you to do it.
~ Monkey King

Following the banishment of Azure Lion to the Underworld by Monkey King, the Nine-Headed Demon devised a scheme to free him from his imprisonment. The plan revolved around the theft of the Scroll of Memory, which Azure Lion used in his quest to free his sworn brothers and overthrow the Jade Emperor to bring about change in the Mortal Realm. The Nine-Headed Demon foresaw that Azure Lion's actions would endanger the Pillar of Heaven. This was because Azure Lion lacked the strength to harness the yellow Color Stone, which would ultimately result in the downfall of all the other guardians protecting the Color Stones. Despite Azure Lion's attempt to restore balance by sacrificing himself, the threat of annihilation still loomed large.

Ne Zha intervened by sealing the Power of the Jade Emperor, but it was not sufficient to avert the impending catastrophe. The Scroll of Memory was eventually returned to the Underworld Kings, yet the identity of the thief remained shrouded in mystery, prompting an investigation into the security breach. The remaining kings deliberated on the implications of the Jade Emperor's downfall and the potential repercussions of the universe teetering on the brink of chaos. The Nine-Headed Demon faced severe consequences if his involvement in the crisis was exposed, but the devastation that could unfold if he succeeded in his plans were far greater.

Season 5[]

Either choice you make, I'm getting out. What remains, that's up to you. My last act in this world is letting you decide. Not them. Not the Celestial Host. Not her! I'm opening your cage.
~ The Nine-Headed Demon

The Monkie Kids and Monkey King embarked on a journey to retrieve the Color Stones, with the hope of using them to restore the Pillar of Heaven. However, as they did, the Court of the Underworld made arrived, revealing that only the Harbinger of Chaos possessed the ability to repair the Pillar. To the court's surprise, the Nine-Headed Demon disclosed that MK was the true Harbinger of Chaos, a revelation that left the court in disbelief. The Nine-Headed Demon exposed the impending end of the Great Cycle, casting doubt on the loyalty of the court. The Nine-Headed Demon revealed himself to be the traitor among them, using his chaotic energy to eliminate them all at once, leaving the heroes in a state of shock.

The Nine-Headed Demon was relieved to no longer have to stand alongside the court, and mockingly pointed out the irony of MK being called chaos incarnate by them when the Nine-Headed Demon himself had originated from the chaos beyond. The Nine-Headed Demon took pleasure in revealing his true identity, which was shrouded in mystery and left everyone puzzled, especially Monkey King who had never encountered him before. The Nine-Headed Demon hinted at a shared history with Monkey King, dismissing the significance of his name and ominously foreshadowing an impending conclusion to the unfolding events. The Monkie Kids and their allies engaged in a fierce battle to stop the demon, only to be overwhelmed by the Nine-Headed Demon's chaotic powers.

MK was filled with fury upon uncovering the truth that the Nine-Headed Demon was the mastermind behind the impending danger to the universe. MK condemned the Nine-Headed Demon as a monster for his nefarious actions. In response to the accusation, the Nine-Headed Demon launched an attack on MK, only to regain his composure after a brief moment. Seizing the opportunity, the demon chose to reveal his backstory to MK, confessing that he had given up on being a hero after being rejected when he tried to encourage his companions to explore the outside world. The Nine-Headed Demon admitted to shattering MK's magic stone in order to force his premature birth, believing that this would allow him to break free from the predetermined path set by fate. Despite Macaque's attempts to use his powers to escape, the demon thwarted his efforts, causing him pain in the process. The Nine-Headed Demon asserted that he would achieve his goal, whether MK chose to sacrifice himself to restore the Pillar of Heaven or not. He insisted that he simply wanted MK to have the freedom to choose his own destiny, rather than having it dictated by others, especially Nüwa herself.

Prior to MK's attempt to jump into the Pillar of Heaven, Macaque intervenes by using his own powers to break free from the Nine-Headed Demon's restraints, causing the demon immense pain once again. The Nine-Headed Demon, in response, restrains Macaque once more, suspecting that Macaque obtained his powers through a deal with another person. The Nine-Headed Demon then proclaims to everyone present that the only way to save them and the entire universe is for MK to sacrifice himself, prompting a moment of reflection on whether they are truly prepared to prevent such a sacrifice. Despite the doubts raised, the Nine-Headed Demon assures MK that he is not deceiving him, urging MK to proceed with his ascent of the Pillar of Heaven.

In an attempt to halt MK's progress, Macaque releases his powers to free the others, while Monkey King rushes to intercept MK. This action weakens the Nine-Headed Demon, severing his connection to his chaos powers. The group bands together to fend off the enraged demon, who derides them as foolish for attempting to thwart his plans, vowing to eliminate them himself if they manage to prevent MK's sacrifice, thereby endangering the universe. Transforming into the Nine-Headed Beast, the demon engages in a fierce battle with the group until they witness the Pillar of Heaven being restored, indicating that MK has indeed made the ultimate sacrifice.

Upon reverting to his original form, the Nine-Headed Demon regained his powers, exulting in the fact that he could finally return to the tumultuous realm beyond. Meanwhile, MK emerged from the Pillar of Heaven, causing the universe to be on the brink of destruction once more. As the impending doom loomed over them, the heroes had no option but to come to terms with the inevitable end of everything. The emaciated Nine-Headed Demon took pleasure in this grim scenario, relishing in the despair that surrounded them.

He acknowledged how MK defied his destiny to stand alongside his companions instead of submitting. Despite being commended for his efforts, MK devised a plan to mend the Pillar of Heaven collectively, rather than individually. The Nine-Headed Demon scoffed at the notion, dismissing it as impossible and asserting that he would have attempted it himself if it were feasible. However, with the combined efforts of the Monkie Kids and Monkey King, the Color Stones were destroyed, channeling their energy to restore the universe and the Pillar of Heaven. As the Nine-Headed Demon's restored form filled him with dread, he forcefully pushed MK back into the Pillar of Heaven, retreating once more to the chaotic realm from whence he came.

The Nine-Headed Demon praised MK for discovering an alternative solution, something he had abandoned. As they gazed upon the sea of primordial chaos, the Nine-Headed Demon revealed that he had been absent for a considerable period, indicating that an unidentified adversary was prevailing. When MK inquired about the identity of the enemy, the Nine-Headed Demon wished him good fortune, particularly since MK's actions had unleashed something. While returning MK to his realm, the Nine-Headed Demon expressed gratitude for everything.

Trivia[]
