Nishumbha is a minor antagonist in the manga/anime series Record of Ragnarok.

He is a minor antagonist in Shiva's Flashback during the Fifth Round and the Fifth Round of the Ragnarok Tournament.

Nishumbha is one of the Ashura Brothers and the younger brother of Shumbha, who plundered the villages when the Hindu Pantheon was divided into clans. After being defeated by Shiva and Rudra, Nishumbha became a member of the assembled Hindu Pantheon as Shiva's subordinate.

He is voiced by Sean T. Krishnan, who has also voiced Varuna always in Record of Ragnarok and Quan Chi in Mortal Kombat 1, in the English dubbed version of the anime adaptation. He is voiced by Satoru Ito in the Japanese dub.

Appearance[]

Nishumbha is a God who looks like a short, thin individual with blue skin, three faces, six arms, sharp teeth and a long tongue. He wears a light blue and purple dhoti, three golden crowns on his heads, a purple scarf and is barefoot. The backs of his arms are pink.

Personality[]

Nishumbha is an aggressive and threatening individual, who does not hesitate to attack other villages and threaten their inhabitants for his own personal gain. He always seems to be ready for a challenge with the other Gods, even if he doesn't hesitate to burst out laughing when faced with names that he considers "ridiculous" and make fun of them for it. Nishumbha is a challenging individual, confident in his own power to the point of looking down those he deems weaker than him.

Biography[]

Nishumbha is one of the Ashura Brothers who, when the Hindu Pantheon was divided into clans, lived with his brother Shumbha. One day, Nishumbha, Shumbha and their gang attack the village where Shiva and Rudra live in search of them, and burst into laughter upon hearing their nicknames, however Shiva and Rudra show up soon after and easily defeat the Asura Brothers and their gang. Shortly thereafter, Shiva and Rudra begin a campaign to reach the summit of Svarga and make Rudra King of the Hindu Gods, but in the end it is Shiva to defeat Rudra, who abandons the Svarga immediately after, and to become the King of the Hindu Gods before all the other Hindu Gods including Nishumbha.

Millennia later, during the Ragnarok Tournament, Nishumbha and his brother Shumbha remain in the stands to watch their leader Shiva match against Raiden Tameemon.

Powers and Abilities[]

Overall Abilities: Nishumbha is an extremely strong Hindu God, although not enough to compete with Shiva and Rudra although supported by his brother Shumbha and their gang. As a God, Nishumbha possesses physical abilities far superior to those of any ordinary Human. His body cannot be damaged by mortal weapons, however it can still be damaged by unarmed attacks from individuals with superhuman strength and Divine Weapons. For the same reason, Nishumbha is unable to die due to old age.

Six Arms: Thanks to his six arms, Nishumbha possesses combat dexterity far greater than that of most individuals. With them, he is able to defend himself from opponent's blows with one or two pairs of arms, while attacking his opponents with the remaining pairs.
