Nitara is a supporting antagonist in Mortal Kombat 1.
She is voiced by Megan Fox (who also played Carla Santini in Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen and Jennifer Check in Jennifer's Body), while her grunts and screams were voiced by Cristina Vee (who also voices Verosika Mayday in Helluva Boss).
Biography[]
Nitara is the daughter of Kasomira, the finest admiral of her realm, Vaeternus. She was tasked by her Coven and goal is to seek out more blood to sustain their immortality and their increasing birthrate. Nitara sides with the devious sorcerers Quan Chi and Shang Tsung, joining his plot to conquer the Realms in return for gaining a new blood supply. As a gesture of goodwill, Nitara and her Vaeternians were given immunity to sunlight, allowing them to survive in other Realms during the day.
Nitara is first seen aiding Quan Chi in constructing a soul stealer in the Living Forest along with her fellow conspirators Havik, Darrius and Sareena. She handed over a crystal the sorcerer needed, and helped persuade the impatient anarchist to do the same, pointing out the benefits she had received. However, they are interrupted by the arrival of a band of heroes led by Ashrah, a reformed demon that had previously broken free from Quan Chi's control. Quan Chi tells Nitara and the others to keep Ashrah's group at bay while he continues to activate the soul stealer. Nitara fights Ashrah head-on, using her wings to avoid many of Ashrah's low strikes before finally being cut by her kriss, which she painfully realizes is enchanted. Ashrah confirms this, claiming she's already used it to kill plenty of evil vampires before her. Nitara denies that her people's reliance on blood makes them inherently evil, but she and Havik are defeated by Ashrah and Reptile nevertheless.
Afterwards, Nitara rejoined her allies at Ying Fortress, where she attacked the Lin Kuei that were scaling the walls, dive-bombing Smoke, nearly sending him falling to his doom before he manages to save himself. She then turns her attention to Sub-Zero and drags him across the ground, attempting to bite him but failing as Sub-Zero kicks her off of him. The ninja mentions he had heard childhood stories of the Vaeternians and thought them little more than tall tales until now. Nitara replies that all of Earthrealm will know of Vaeternus when the realm begins feeding on its people, but her threats are cut short when Sub-Zero incapacitates both her and Sareena, claiming Nitara will end the day hungry.
Nitara later joined General Shao, Rain and Goro after the Deadly Alliance's schemes were uncovered. They confronted Sindel's party in Shang Tsung's true laboratory. After a tense argument between Sindel and Shao, the general uses the Amulet of Shinnok to capture most of Sindel's allies, save for Liu Kang and Li Mei. The fighting erupts, and Nitara manages to strike Sindel's face with a glancing blow. Sindel calls Shao a fool for deciding to cast his lot with such "bloodsucking fiends" and she and Li Mei decimates Nitara in battle, calling her no better than the monstrosities in the laboratory.
When the Deadly Alliance's plot collapsed, as seen in her ending Nitara returned to the Coven in shame, being blamed due to being the one who advocated for allying with Quan Chi. Tasked with finding new feeding grounds with the threat of banishment, Nitara came to the realization that the Vaeternians did not need to conquer Realms, but merely kidnap enough beings who could reproduce, giving Vaeternis a self sustaining food supply.
Personality[]
Despite caring for her home realm and her people, Nitara is very selfish and egotistical as she is self-serving, sadistic, she will try to kill anyone just so her and her people can feed on people's blood to survive which makes her a cannibal.

Nitara has a gemstone that grants abilities to traverse realms, and in one of her fatalities, she has the power to summon bats to aid her, and in intros, she can kind of manipulate blood.

- While this incarnation of Nitara is just a villainess, the other incarnations of her serves as an anti-heroine/anti-villainess.
- Nitara is foreshadowed by the in-universe movie character Kalima, who shares her moveset, and is voiced by Courtenay Tayler and Christina Vee. Kalima would later become a skin for Nitara.
