A Nixel taunting
Nixels are the dark, uncool, uncreative enemies of the colorful, cool, and creative Mixels and are the primary antagonists of the Mixels franchise. They are small, unintelligent, annoying, destructive square creatures who reside in an area known as Nixels Land, but are constantly spreading across Mixels Land. Not much is known about Nixels Land except that it is gray and drab.
The Nixels are led by a very large one named Major Nixel. Unlike the Mixels, all the Nixels live in one large group instead of tribes of three. Being small and dimwitted, a single Nixel can easily be dealt with by stepping on it. A large swarm, on the other hand, can do major damage, being capable of destroying entire landmarks, and only a Mix or a Max stands a chance. A lone Nixel can also pose a threat by summoning larger groups if it is not properly dealt with. The black portion of a Nixel's body is actually armor, as Nixels have been shown to be able to jump out and run around without it, although it's not known how they can control their hands in the armor because the actual body does not have arms.
There are three variations of this armor, each one could possibly represent a rank in the Nixel army. Also, the armor seems to be very durable as Nixels have been seen being able to survive many incidents (despite receiving injuries in some cases) including: falling off a cliff, being kicked, being stepped on, being electrocuted, and being burned. Nixels are also rather dumb creatures; this is obviously supported by the fact that their vocavulary consists solely of the word "Nix." This was further supported when a Mix used an ice statue of Major Nixel to distract a Nixel Swarm, and the Nixels stood around the statue confused, thinking it was their leader.
Despite this, they are shown to have heightened awareness--at the "The End" of the episode Nixels, a Nixel appears and kicks all the letters that spell THE END, breaking the 4th Wall. Nixels are also shown to be extreme sadists and psycopaths as they can mindlessly attack Mixels and rampage for a prolonged time without any second thoughts--or first thoughts, for that matter--and even laugh at their own leader when he is attacked by Mixels (probably because he physically abuses them).
Calling All Mixels!
Nixels also appear as the enemies in the game Calling All Mixels! They can be found wandering aimlessly all over Mixels Land and can attack your base at times to steal Cubits. The player can use Mixels and mix them to stop the Nixels from reaching the base. Unlike in the TV show, the game has several various types of Nixels that use weapons.
- Nixel: A regular Nixel will try to attack by running up to and jumping on your Mixels. Can be easily disposed of.
- Boomerang Nixel: Uses boomerangs as a weapon. It can attack by either throwing the boomerang or whacking a Mixel with it.
- Paddle Nixel: It carries two paddles with which it can use to perform charge attacks.
- Boxing Nixel: A Nixel with boxing gloves. Can do powerful melee attacks.
- Nixel Cannoneer: Carries a cannon on its back and shoots bombs at your Mixels.
- Big Nixel: A giant Nixel that is almost as large as an average Mixel. It is much harder to take down than most Nixels.
