| ~ Sunako describing her past, and the impact the Vampire Noble had on her life. |
The unnamed Noble Vampire is the overarching antagonist of the Shiki franchise.
He was an aristocrat who existed over a hundred years before the events of the series, and is the one responsible for turning Sunako Kirishiki into a vampire, and leading her down the path that would eventually end in the destruction of Sotoba.
Biography[]
The Noble Vampire was a foreigner who visited Sunako's family. Due to the fact that he could stand out in the sun without any issues, he was likely a Jinrou. He grew fond of Sunako for her cheerful demeanor, and despite the language barrier between them, they seemingly became friends. However, he eventually wound up feeding upon her, which led to her death and rebirth as a Shiki.
The Noble Vampire's fate after this is unknown. It's possible that Sunako's family hunted him down and killed him out of revenge, or that some other hunter eventually got to him. If he had survived into the modern era, Sunako herself could have even ordered his death.
Trivia[]
- The Noble Vampire never speaks any dialogue and is never referred to by name. He cannot be Count Dracula or another famous vampire either, as he is a Jinrou, which is exclusive to Shiki's lore. He does however evoke the classic vampire aesthetic, and his foreign status implies that he is from the western world, which is where the vampire myth originated from. This makes him the most enigmatic figure in all of Shiki, even if his purpose is ultimately just to flesh out Sunako's tragic past.
