Norm is a mime-like alien from the planet Fenomena who serves as one of Emperor Velo's racing champions in the video game Crash Nitro Kart. Norm has the ability to separate his body into two different versions of himself: Small Norm and Big Norm.
Small Norm’s whistles are done by Robbie Daymond, while Big Norm is voiced by Andre Sogliuzzo.
Crash Nitro Kart
After Team Bandicoot or Team Cortex earn all the Trophies found on Fenomena, Emperor Velo will summon Norm to his colosseum so they can race for a Key to the next planet. When Norm first arrives, the teams laugh at his unusual appearance, but Velo assures them he is not to be underestimated. However Norm refuses to race, which infuriates Velo and demands that he do so. Norm then morphs into a pair of beings, with the larger of the two, Big Norm, expressing his desire for some competition. The Smaller Norm does not share in Big Norm's enthusiasm, but is reminded by his other self that he made a deal that they race in exchange for wearing the mime outfits.
If Team Bandicoot beats both Norms, Big Norm will congratulate them and says they just might win Velo's racing tournament if they continue to work together. Big Norm then calls Small Norm over to talk, but the latter is too upset from losing that he refuses.
If Team Cortex beats both Norms, Big Norm tries to congratulate them but is cut off by Dr. Neo Cortex who calls him a filthy clown. N. Gin informs the doctor that their opponents are mimes before Big Norm decides to insult Cortex's appearance.
Both Norms merge back into one being after Velo appears, who contemplates on taking Norm's books away as punishment.
Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled
Both Small Norm and Big Norm return as playable characters in this game, and can be unlocked by purchasing them at a pit stop using Wumpa Coins.
Small Norm is quiet, secluded, and has little interest in anything else besides reading. Despite being a skilled driver, Small Norm will only race when he has to, such as to fulfil his end of a bargain or to avoid Emperor Velo's wrath. When he does agree to race, Small Norm will divide himself into two halves to summon Big Norm.
Big Norm is loud, cocky, and is not afraid to speak his mind. He is more competitive than Small Norm, as shown from his eagerness to race, although he also has some good sportsmanship; congratulating the teams on winning the race against them despite the fact they both hate losing.
