Norm owned the Shady Lane Motel, where he offered to fix Dexter Morgan's flat tire for $20. He told Dexter that the town was in walking distance, where Dexter went to confront a murder suspect.
On the way, he found Norm's marijuana plants. Dexter confronted the suspect, Jonah Mitchell, but realized that his knives were missing. He went back to the Shady Lane and found Norm smoking weed. Norm told Dexter that he took the knives and he could sell them back for $10,000.
He attempts to extort Dexter and pulls and unloaded gun on Dexter, but he impales Norm on a pitchfork before hiding his body in a corn silo.

Norm is the only known person killed by Dexter in the state of Nebraska.
