Nrvnqsr Chaos (pronounced "Nero Chaos"), originally known as Fabro Rowan, is a major antagonist in the Tsukihime franchise.
He is the Tenth of the Twenty-Seven Dead Apostle Ancestors who was once an alchemist of the Mage's Association. He became a Dead Apostle through his own research and achieved immortality through the absorption of other beings. Nrvnqsr is a living mass of chaotic matter analogous to a primordial soup, created through amalgamation of 666 creatures.
In Melty Blood and Carnival Phantasm, he is voiced by Jouji Nakata (who also voices Kirei Kotomine from the Fate series, Alucard in Hellsing, Great Professor Bias in Choujuu Sentai Liveman, Ieyasu Tokugawa in Samurai Warriors, Kazuya Mishima in the Tekken games and Ashen Eye in The Ancient Magus' Bride), while he's voiced by Kenta Miyake in the anime adaptation. In the English dub, he is voiced by Jamieson Price, who also voiced Kirei in the 2006 anime adaptation of Fate/stay night.
Appearance[]
Nrvnqsr appears as a tall, middle aged man with graying hair and a muscular build. He wears a dark trench coat that fully covers his body. Despite his humanoid form, it's revealed that only his head and hands still retain their original form while the rest of his body is pure darkness that doesn't have a visible outline. This is due to him being made out of pure chaos.
Personality[]
Nrvnqsr Chaos is an extremely bloodthirsty, vicious, cruel, merciless and arrogant individual who has no qualms with slaughtering dozens of innocent people in pursuit of his goals. He deems humans as inferior creatures to himself and is quite overconfident in his abilities, mocking Shiki and telling him to stop being stubborn and die.
Nrvnqsr claims to be a fastidious person and prefers to devour humans whole instead of just drinking their blood. While attempting to devour Shiki during their battle, Nrvnqsr declares he won't leave a single cell of him behind. Furthermore, the beasts within Nrvnqsr are shown to be sentient and shares his sadism, as displayed when they surround Shiki and shows the desire to brutally tear him apart before consuming him. When he's defeated by Shiki, Nrvnqsr is shown to be genuinely amused that he was killed in such an unanticipated way.
In his human life, Fabro Rowan was a rather serious man with an experimentive personality. In addition to this, even after becoming a Dead Apostle, he's shown to be close acquaintances with Roa.
