The love you feel for your family makes you weak.
~ OMAC's most famous quote to Blue Beetle.
Cuida a tu familia. (Take care of your family)
~ OMAC's last words to Blue Beetle before sacrificing himself to kill Victoria Kord.
I remember everything now.
~ OMAC upon him realizing Victoria is the one who killed his mother.
Sacrifices must be made for the greater good.
~ OMAC taunting Victoria with one of her quotes and his last words before he kills himself and Kord in an explosion.

Lieutenant Ignacio Carapax, also known as the One Man Army Corps or OMAC, is the secondary antagonist of the 2023 DC film, Blue Beetle.

He was a Guatemalan soldier who lost his mother from a bomb strike and almost lost his life to a land mine before being painfully experimented on by Kord Industries and becoming the first OMAC and the former bodyguard/right-hand man of Kord Industries CEO Victoria Kord and the first and former archenemy of Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle. After his defeat by Blue Beetle as well learning the truth of his mother's death, OMAC turned against Victoria (who is the mastermind for the bomb strike upon Ignacio's beloved mother) and killed her by exploding himself.

As an adult, he was portrayed by Raoul Trujillo, who also portrayed Zero Wolf in Apocalypto and the Garuda in Lost Girl. As a child and a teenager, he was portrayed by Ayden Rivera and Xol Gonzalez.

Biography[]

Past[]

Carapax was a Guatemalan native who was caught in the Guatemalan Civil War. He has seen his own mother get killed in a bomb strike and took the necklace she left behind. He spent days on the run hoping to not get picked up by soldiers. This however he was found by Kord and sent to military school.

In military school he had received training from a young age and manipulated by them as well as Kord. Years into the war in Guatemala he finds himself on a land mine and was badly injured. The good news is that Kord save him and healed him. The bad news is that Kord has used him as her lab rat thought out his life, such as running fatal tests, surgeries and experiments on him. She had also wiped his memory in order to keep him under her thumb.

Personality[]

Ignacio is a ruthless, brutal man with an apathetic indifference and a cold-blooded streak. Known for following Victoria in her search for the Scarab, Ignacio won't dare to hesitate on harming or trying to kill those in their way, even if it meant putting innocent bystanders in harm's way, and is not someone reasonable to talk out with. He holds a tight grudge against Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle for beating him in combat (although it wasn't his intention) and goes his way into beating him to near death.

He holds the belief that one's love for their family is a "weakness", which was shown from time to time when he rebuked Jaime for his care for his family and almost shot down Rudy during their last battle, a means of provoking his enemy. However, it's ultimately revealed that the reason behind it came from a traumatic experience of losing his beloved mother from a bombing caused by Kord Industries and was picked up as a child soldier, till years head by and became heavily wounded, as a result, it was how Ignacio came to be. He loves his mother when he kept her pendant as well mourning his beloved mother's death. After his defeat by Jaime, Ignacio later found out the truth of his mother's death at Victoria's hands when she ordered the bomb strike.

However, when Jaime chose to spare him after learning of his past of his mother's death by Victoria, Ignacio came to respect him, apologized for mistreating him and tells him to take care of his family, choosing to atone for his crimes by sacrificing himself to kill Victoria and destroy all that remains in Kord Industries in order to avenge his beloved mother, after he found out the truth of his mother's death at the hands of Victoria (who used him as a pawn into doing her dirty works) when she lied to him all these years. When his mother's spirit arrives to him that it is time to come back home, Ignacio obliged as well dragged Victoria to exploded himself and Kord.
