Oboroguruma was was a taxi Minor Youkai of the Youkai Army Corps serving Azukiarai and was a minor antagonist in Ninja Sentai Kakuranger, appearing as the main antagonist of the 3rd episode.
He was voiced and played in his human form by Don Kantaro, who also voiced Gourmet Pyromaniac Vincent in Mirai Sentai Timeranger six years later.

Oboroguruma first came to be when humanity's negative emotions physically manifested and formed thier own group under the leadership of the most powerful of thier kind; Daimaou. One thousand years ago, Oboroguruma was among the army of Yokai who attacked Ninjaman whilst he defended a village. Oboroguruma was killed and sealed behind the Seal Door but Ninjaman was banished by the Three God Generals as he slaughtered his entire village after mistaking them for Yokai.
Kakuranger[]
In 1994, Oboroguruma is among the Yokai freed from the Seal Door by Kappa as Sandayuu Momochi watches.
Oboroguruma aligns himself with Azukiarai in exchange for the latter granting him protection from the humans who had abused him over the years. He is first seen driving a mother and child to the market, only to be harassed when he misses her turn. After dealing with another man so drunk that he pukes, another man refuses to pay his large taxi fare, so Oboroguruma assumes his true form and runs him down in a fit of rage. In his anger, he races past the Kakurangers at work so they summon the Shark Drivers, but Oboroguruma stays ahead until Sasuke makes him crash with the Kakulaser. Before he can be killed, though, Jiraya arrives and saves him. They later meet up at a yoden restaurant, where Oboroguruma expresses his gratitude and learns of Jiraya's desire to help anyone in need, before he offers to introduce him to Azukiarai, and they leave after Jiraya fends off Sasuke and Saizou.
Later, Azukairai informs Oboroguruma that Jiraya is a ninja only interested in the makimono, so the enraged Yokai drives to the quarry and attempts to kill Jiraya with a barrage of bullets. Although he destroys the cage Jiraya is in, his ancestor saves him and gives him a Doron Changer, which allows him to become NinjaBlack even as the other Kakurangers arrive having followed his Kakuremaru. Enraged and outnumbered, Oboroguruma enlarges himself with the Yokai Lightning Cloud and rampages through Tokyo, with the intent to destroy the entire city. Sasuke beconms Red Saruder in response, only to be completely defeated by the Yokai, but the other Kakurangers retrieve the hakimono despite Oboroguruma's attempts to stop them which allows them to become the Giant Beast Generals. Although Oboroguruma decides to flatten them, they assume a pyramid-like formation and defeat Oboroguruma with the Void Hurricane which knocks him on his side where he explodes.
A replica of Oboroguruma with a cannon mounted on top of him is created by Prof Yugami using a child as the Yokai Replica's core to aid Tengu in his attempt to kill the Kakurangers. He fights and overwhelms Jiraya before being enlarged with the other clones when Tengu gets impatient. Together, they manage to defeat the Giant Beast Generals after Tengu points out that hurting the Youkai will hurt the children but are no match for the Beast General Fighters. All of the replicas cease to exist once Tengu is slain, restoring thier hosts.
Oboroguruma is recalled by the Announcer whilst recapping the Kakurangers' war against the Yokai during his feature on the Kakurangers.
Oboroguruma is seen, along with all the other defeated Yokai, after Daimaou is finally contained there by the Kakurangers. Reeling that they are now powerless in captivity, the Yokai all vow that they will one day be reborn and regain their power, cursing humanity.
Personality[]
Oboroguruma merely wished to make a living, and as such was hardworking and kind to those he considers friends. However, he had a bit of a violent temper and attacked those who made him angry.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Human Form: Oboroguruma could assume the human form of a taxi driver via miniature explosions.
- Oboro Ninpo: Oboroguruma was a master of his own special type of vehicle based ninja attacks such as;
- Exhaust Spray: Oboroguruma could spray yellow mist from his exhausts to blind the Kakurangers.
- Exhaust Bullet: Oboroguruma could fire energy blasts from the exhausts on his back,
- Driving: Oboroguruma was an excellent taxi driver although he was prone to making small mistakes.
- Bilingualism: Oboroguruma was able to understand Jiraya speaking English although he himself only spoke Japanese.
- Super Speed: Being a taxi, Oboroguruma was extremely fast and easily outran a running man.
- Bullet Blasts: Oboroguruma could spray bullets from his front bumper that took down Jiraya with a single barrage.
- Yokai Lightning Cloud Summoning: Oboroguruma was able to summon the Yokai Lightning Cloud to enlarge himself with its Yo Power.

- Katana: Oboroguruma used a katana against Red Saruder when giant.
- Cannon: The Oboroguruma replica had a large cannon mounted on top of him which could fire energy blasts. One shot took down Jiraya.

Notes[]
- Traditional Ocoroguruma are ghostly oxcarts with faces on them. Legend has it that on misty nights that are lit by the moon in Kyoto, people can hear squeaking sounds coming from an oxcart. When the person steps outside, they would find the Oboroguruma parked outside their home. Unlike the version from Kakuranger, they are harmless Yokai.
