Argen, know also in his bad form Obscurum, is an anti-villanous antagonist in Winx Club. He is the secondary antagonist-turned major character of season 8. He is the brother of Dorana who is initially introduced as Obscurum where he was Valtor's helper who wanted to take over the throne of Lumenia from Dorana.
He is voiced by Paolo De Santis en original and by Henry F. Benjamin in the Nickelodion version.
Appearance[]
In his real form as Argen; he is a little shorter than Dorana; His hair is placed on the right, and his short hair is the same turquoise color as his sister's. He has blue eyes, interspersed with stars. On his head is a tall turban of yellow, blue and blue tones. The lasso he wears a jumpsuit with high shoulders, wide layered pants and white sleeves. Just above the abdomen is a wide yellow belt. The bottom of the jumpsuit is embroidered with horizontally arranged gold threads. His wrists are wrapped in blue cloth like short cuffs. As Obscurum is a small lilac being, with a round head, purple eyes, a wide mouth and a single eyebrow. He wears a large purple, blue, and lilac striped turban, along with a lilac and purple one-piece suit. He carries with him a scepter with a small star on the tip.
Abilities[]
Obscurum is a Lumen with powerful dark powers. To use his magic, Obscurum uses a magic wand whose tip is a bright star. Thanks to this, he is able to open and close interdimensional portals and hurl powerful blasts of dark energy at his opponents.
History[]
Obscurum sends his army of Staryummy to chase the Lumen messenger Twinkly across the galaxy to prevent her from reaching Magix and traveling to Alfea. The Lumen manages to escape their grip just in time, but ends up losing control and crashing into the Darkwood Forest. The Winx, mistaking her for a shooting star, immediately go to check what it is. Seeing her, Stella explains to the Winx and Faragonda that the little creature in question is a Lumen, a creature of pure light that lives in the stars and that comes from Lumenia, the star that illuminates Solaria. Faragonda wonders what could have led the little girl to leave her star while, in the middle of the forest, Obscurum and the Staryummy blame themselves for not having managed to prevent the Lumen from reaching the fairies of Alfea. Obscurum orders his Staryummy to drain Lumenia's core to the last spark. In this way, Lumenia will sink into darkness and he will become the new ruler of Lumenia. To stop him, thanks to their new and powerful Cosmix powers, the Winx arrive, who proceed to attack the Staryummy, closing the portals that connect them to the dark dimension in which Valtor dwells. However, every time they close a portal, Obscurum always manages to open another one with his magic, in such a way as to allow the Staryummy to bring the sparks of light stolen from the nucleus directly to Valtor. In his dark castle, Valtor proceeds to absorb all the sparks of light brought to him by the Staryummy, greatly increasing his power.
In his dark fortress, Valtor needs to always absorb new stellar energy to become the most powerful sorcerer in the Magical Universe again, so he tasks Obscurum with absorbing every single ray of light from Peripla. Obscurum and his Staryummys sneak onto Peripla, accessing the main structure through the ventilation ducts. Obscurum sends a handful of Staryummy to distract the Winx by causing a blackout, while he and the Starchop will absorb the light of the core. The Winx use their Cosmix powers to head to the bow of the ship and investigate the mysterious blackout, but it is late when they realize the trap. Arriving at the control station, they understand that the Staryummy have already absorbed all the light of Peripla and are now preparing to escape. But while Flora, Bloom and Aisha try to fight them, a call for help from Sky reaches the ship: without Peripla's light to illuminate their path, the Specialists will never be able to reach them and will end up being sucked into the black hole. However, to rekindle the light of Peripla's nucleus thanks to the Cosmix power, the Winx are forced to let Obscurum and the Staryummy escape with the light absorbed.
Thanks to their Cosmix Convergence spell, the Winx rekindle Peripla's luminous core, but now Valtor plans to destroy them once and for all, by having them and the entire starship sucked into a black hole powered by his own dark spell.(The Orion's Secret) In his laboratory, Orion is visited by the sorcerer Valtor, who introduces himself to him as a wizard of light. He promises him that he will save Prometia, provided that the boy, in exchange, gets rid of the six Winx once and for all. With nothing to lose, and determined to save his planet at all costs, Orion accepts his offer.
In his dark fortress, Valtor entrusts Obscurum with his "Darkener", a scepter of power thanks to which he will be able to transform Iridia's Lumens into Staryummy at his service. In doing so, Obscurum uses the scepter's power against the Lumens. Orion, realizing that he has been deceived by Valtor, tries to save his friends in danger, but Obscurum unleashes all the power of a black hole against him. Valtor and Obscurum plan to appropriate the light of Gorgol, an underwater star that has always illuminated the seabed of Andros.
To prevent the Winx from once again being able to interfere with his plans, Valtor summons a dangerous predator from the depths, which he empowers with his own dark magic. After that, he sends Obscurum and his Staryummy hes to absorb the light of Gorgol, the underwater star that illuminates the seabed of Andros. Dorana and Ligea combine their powers to create a magical barrier that protects Gorgol's light. Unfortunately, however, Obscurum and his Staryummy have already managed to infiltrate the citadel, reaching its core.(In the Depths of Andros) Once Obscurum has been punished, Valtor proceeds to plan the attack on Ipsos, a very bright star located in the Constellation of Hydra. Determined to destroy the Winx once and for all, Valtor awakens from the depthsof space itself the menacing Hydra, whose fury will hurl itself against the six fairies.
Spying on the entire cosmos, Valtor witnesses the passage of the star of desires, a star that crosses the skies of the Magical Dimension only once every thousand years. If only he could get hold of it, Valtor could express his desire to be the most powerful sorcerer in the universe. However, Obscurum points out to him that this can never happen due to his dark powers. Determined to get his hands on her, Valtor decides that to do so he will use Bloom's Cosmix powers, which he will take away from the girl by hitting her dearest affections. On Gardenia, Bloom organizes the perfect party for Vanessa, but the happy reunion with his parents is ruined by Valtor who, by attacking the Sun, throws the Earth into cold and darkness. Subsequently, he also summons dark giants to destroy the planet. To rescue the Earth, Bloom summons the Specialist warriors, while she and the other Winx fly to the Sun to save her core. While the Winx face the Starchomp that devoured the core of the Sun, Bloom faces the sorcerer face to face in an alternate dimension created especially for her. Inside her, Valtor puts her face to face with a choice, save her friends, or save the Earth and all its inhabitants, including her parents, knowing that she will never be able to do both. Only if the girl gives him her Cosmix power will Valtor withdraw his dark armies, so that her parents and his friends are safe.
Determined to defeat him once again, Bloom learns from Valtor the reason behind her mysterious return. In fact, when the sorcerer was defeated, what remained of his life force was dispersed throughout the Universe. It was then that Prince Argen of Lumenia, brother of the sovereign Dorana, dissatisfied with his life and blinded by anger, called him back. Having managed to channel his dark magical energy, Argen then used the power of the stars to shape a new body for the sorcerer to inhabit. In exchange, Valtor gave him his dark powers, transforming him into Obscurum. But, being too weak, he continually needed to feed on the light of the stars to regain his strength and Obscurum offered to help him in his plan to conquer him, in exchange for the throne of Lumenia.
To save her dearest loved ones, Bloom is forced to accept Valtor's blackmail. But the moment the fairy tries to give him her Cosmix powers, they refuse to abandon her rightful owner, reacting negatively against Valtor and casting him adrift in space. Bloom thus returns to her reality, where she comes across Twinkly, busy traveling at the speed of light to reach the Winx on the now extinct Sun and bring them the prototype nucleus designed by Orion. Bloom, however, tasks her with bringing the core to the Specialists, thanks to which they manage to defeat one of the two menacing giants. By means of her radiant light, Dorana manages to convince Obscurum to abandon the dark path of revenge that she has undertaken by allying herself in the past with Valtor, promising him that from now on Lumenia will have two rulers. Argen thus returns to his original appearance and is reunited with his beloved sister who, for all these years, had made him feel less and less important. Inspired by their gesture of love, the Lumens of Lumenia decide to show all their affection towards the Staryummy, who immediately return to being Lumens.
