Biography[]
Early Life & Career[]
Young Ochi of Bestoon in full armor.
Born on the planet Bestoon, Ochi was an associate of Yupe Tashu and a member of the Acolytes of the Beyond, a group of liberals devoted to the collection of Sith artifacts and Darth Vader. A Jedi hunter since the Clone Wars, Ochi became a bounty hunter and an assassin obsessed with finding Sith relics.
At some point, he obtained the droid D-O from one of his victims. During the Clone Wars, he took a bounty for Jedi Master's Depa Billaba's head. He tracked her to Malathon IX where he waited for five days to spring his ambush. Hiding from a tree, Ochi attempted to kill her with his deadblade but before Ochi could land, Mace Windu ambush Ochi and he landed in the nearby river. Despite this Ochi manage to fight off Windu and escape.
After the Clone Wars, Ochi eventually came into service of Emperor Palpatine of the Galactic Empire and was tasked in hunting Darth Vader on Mustafar as a form of training him in the dark side of the Force. Despite his mission being a failure, Ochi began to serve Vader. Ochi also later worked for Qi'ra of Crimson Dawn. Ochi was sent on several mission like assassinating the Emperor's Royal Guard. During this he meet the Orphans (consisting of the bounty hunters Chanath Cha, Sear, Imara Vex, and their droid Ladybright), The Archivist, the Knights of Ren, and fellow assassin Deathstick who was sent to capture Cadeliah. Ochi worked for both the Empire and Crimson Dawn, although he didn't betray any of them.
Ochi has dedicated himself completely to hunting down and killing Jedi.
Following the resurrection of Emperor Palpatine, Ochi was promoted as a Sith loyalist under the Sith Eternal cult. He was tasked with obtaining Palpatine's granddaughter, Rey, who was chosen by the Emperor to replace him as the next Dark Lord of the Sith. Ochi recruited the Droid Crush Pirates of Bestoon, the mercenaries twins Bosvarga and Cerensco, and the bounty hunters Stiper and Krastan. Knowing of his father's intentions, Palpatine's son and daughter-in-law, Miramir, hid Rey on Jakku under the custody of Unkar Plutt. The parents manage to hijack Ochi's ship and dropped their daughter off on Jakku but before they left, several CSA troopers, sent by Ochi provided by Enric Pryde, had found them and took control of Ochi's ship. Although the parents manage to fight off the troops, Ochi, with the help of Bosvarga and Cerensco, manage to capture them. When Ochi interrogated them, they refused to surrender their daughter's whereabouts, prompting Ochi to stab them to death with his dagger. Bosvarga and Cerensco were aiming their blasters at the couple as Ochi killed them with his blade but the assassin's bloodlust was unsatisfied and he then repeatedly stabbed Bosvarga and Cerensco to death. After throwing the dead corpse out of his ship, Ochi founded Miramir's Aki-Aki beads and concluded their daughter was on Pasaana.

Sometime after killing Rey's parents, Ochi was tracked by Luke Skywalker and Lando Calrissian, as his dagger was rumored to contain Sith writing that detailed the possible location of Exegol, the location of the Sith Lord's secret base. Lando had heard Ochi in a bar owned by an old friend named Sennifer. The two founded Krastan, Bosvarga, and three other bounty hunters on the planet Torrenoteer Minor to find the girl and her family. After they arrived on Torrenoteer Minor, the hunters fought Lando and Luke where Krastan was killed Luke deflected Krastan's blaster bolts back at him with his lightsaber. Although Stiper manage to escape but was later killed by Ochi. The two pursued Ochi to the desert planet Pasaana, where he got trapped in the sinking sands of the Shifting Mires and perished within the caverns below. Despite not finding Ochi, Luke and Lando search the Sinking Fields and his ship the Bestoon Legacy but found no clues. Since Luke is busy managing his Jedi Temple, Lando decides to remain on Pasaana to keep watch for any sign of Ochi and also to search the quadrant for his missing daughter Kadara.
Legacy[]
Ochi's remains.
Many years later, the Resistance members; Rey, Finn, Poe, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and BB-8, find themselves in the Shifting Mires after running from the First Order. While finding a way out, the group found a landspeeder. 3PO noticed the speeder was adorned with a hex charm, a common emblem of Sith loyalists. The group then found the skeletal remains of Ochi, having been picked clean to the bone by gouge beetles, and BB-8 found his dagger in the sand. After escaping from the tunnels with the help of a Vexis, they use Ochi's abandoned ship, the Bestoon Legacy, to escape from the Knights of Ren and look for someone who could decipher the Sith inscription on the dagger, revealed to be the location of the Sith wayfinder in the ruins of the second Death Star on Kef Bir, the ocean moon of Endor.
Although when Rey got to the vault Kylo Ren was already there and destroyed the wayfinder and after a ferocious duel, ended with Kylo Ren being stabbed and Rey taking off in his TIE whisper. Finn who saw the battle thought Ren had killed Rey and he, Poe, and the rest of the company stranded there went back to the Resistance base on Ajan Kloss. While morning Rey, Ochi's droid D-O offered Finn his condolences and they struck a conversation where Finn learned about Ochi's mission to bring Rey to the Sith Lord on Exegol.
Personality[]
Ochi tracking down Rey's parents.
While little is seen of Ochi in the flashback that Rey has about him, it is shown that he was sadistic, obsessed with using brute force to claim what he seeks. From the jittering and fear expressed by D-O, it can be assumed that Ochi abused him, which was later confirmed in the novel Shadow of the Sith.
In the Darth Vader comics, another side to Ochi's personality was established, revealing the assassin was fond of speaking and making quips, especially if they involved him yelling out his name. He revealed to Vader that his loyalty to always to the one who was most powerful, explaining his service to the Sith. People like The Archivist and Deathstick often referred to Ochi as a monster or little beast. Getting older, Ochi began to drink alcohol and with his Sith dagger effecting his mental health into homicidal frenzies, which led him to kill other beings for real and perceived wrongs.
In the Shadow of the Sith, Ochi's personally is expanded more where the dagger (plus the alcohol) influencing his mind, Ochi killed his allies Bosvarga and Cerensco and killed Stiper out of paranoid when he mocked him of trusting the Droid of Bestoon and their captain Ought-Six.
