	~ The Octophantom

The Octophantom was the Octopus and a Elephant-themed monster of the Evil Space Aliens under Lord Zedd and a supporting antagonist in the Power Rangers franchise. He serves as the main antagonist of the episode "The Power Stealer", a supporting antagonist in the first part of the four-part episode "Ninja Quest", and a minor antagonist in the two-part Power Rangers In Space series finale "Countdown to Destruction".

He is voiced by Eddie Frierson who later voiced Weldo and the Artistmole also in MMPR and later voiced Mechanizer in Power Rangers Zeo, Terror Tooth in Power Rangers Turbo, Ironite in Power Rangers Lost Galaxy, Strikning in Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue and both Frax and Rabbitcon in Power Rangers Time Force. Aside from Power Rangers, he is best known as Datamon from Digimon Adventure.

Personality

Octophantom was pompous and highly self-loving, impressively prideful and narcissistic and considered himself very handsome. Octophantom didn't like to get hit in his face, especially his trunk. His narcissism was his greatest weakness, as he was eventually defeated by the Rangers. However, he was also faithful to Zedd.

Biography

The Octophantom is created by Zedd during a Z-Putty fight and assigned the job of capturing the Power Rangers inside a magical jar and draining them of their powers. Octophantom is very vain and considers himself very handsome. He is also rather pompous and doesn't like to get hit in his face (especially his trunk). Other than his undying love for himself, Octophantom is extremely powerful. The Octophantom encounters the Rangers and is able to capture Tommy, Zack, Kimberly and Trini but Jason and Billy escape and create a plan to use a mirror in order to occupy Octophantom's attention and free their friends. Octophantom falls for the trick, Billy breaks his jar and the team is reunited so he proceeds to battle the heroes, throwing sea stars and firing beams from his eyes and arms. However, he is defeated and enlarged although the Thunder Megazord swiftly kills him.

A year later, Rita Repulsa's brother Rito Revolto comes to Earth with a plan to destroy the Thunderzords so Zedd has Finster recreate several monsters including the Octophantom to help him. After hiding in the woods, the Octophantom is enlarged and, although he is defeated early in the fight by a kick from the Thunder Megazord, he recovers after the fight and cheers with Rito and the other three monsters following the destruction of the Rangers' Zords and powers. Soon after, he is in attendance with the other monsters at the Moon Palace after destroying the Thunderzords, but is not seen again afterwards.

Zeo

The Octophantom seen in the audience at Prince Gasket's Machine Arena when Tommy forces Jason to fight Altor. However, the Rangers are later able to escape after Tritor destroys the shield generator which renders Gasket's plan a failure.

In Space

Two years later, the Octophantom is seen in the tavern on Onyx when Andros visits the planet to take the Mega Voyager cards from Darkonda. He tries to stop the Red Ranger when he flees the planet but is pushed out when Andros passes close by.

Later the same year, the Octophantom joins Rita and Zedd's army which attacks a planet in the M-51 Galaxy and defeats Trey of Triforia. The invasion of the universe is successful but the Octophantom and the rest of the monster army are turned to dust by Zordon's Energy Wave.

Powers And Abilities

• Strength: Octophantom was able to throw off the main five Rangers when they jump punched him. When giant, single punches knocked back the Thunder Megazord and shook up the cockpit severely.
• Durability: Octophantom had five of the Rangers punch him at once and even being stabbed in the mouth by the Power Lance didn't knock him down.
• Teleportation: Octophantom could teleport to any location at will in a strike of lightning.
• Skilled Fighter: Octophantom was skilled enough to take on and overpower four of the five main Rangers with his bare hands as well as overpower Jason using his staff. Even when Trini and Kimberly pulled out their Power Weapons, he easily best them down.
• Energy Beams: Octophantom could throw yellow energy blasts from his hands powerful enough to make the five Rangers roll away.
• Energy Blasts: Octoplantom could fire massive red beans from his eyes that were powerful enough to make Jason and Billy roll away.
• Tractor Beam Projection: Octophantom could fired red lightning from his hands capable of pulling Jason closer to him.
  • Damage Inducing: Octophantom's energy beam could be seen injuring Jason.

Arsenal

• Pebble Staff-Octophantom had a long staff with a sharp tip at the end for combat.
• Starfish Bombs-Octophantom could also throw starfish like objects capable of exploding with enough force to down the main five Rangers.
• Jar-The Octophantom had a large Chinese style jar that he can use to suck up the Rangers and trap them for Zedd.
