Odie Asman is a major antagonist in the Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve, being the overarching antagonist of the third case, "The Return of the Great Departed Soul".

He was once a Journalist who ruined Enoch Drebber's reputation by citing his actual name in his story which proved that Drebber was a graverobber which lead to Drebber getting expelled from University and turning to a life of crime. He also planned to scam Harebryane out of the government's research grant money by creating a fake teleportation machine. Ultimately, he was killed by Courtney Sithe because he was blackmailing her after Drebber already was trying to kill him with the teleportation machine.

Biography[]

Past as a Journalist[]

Prior to becoming the crime lord he was later end up being, he was a Journalist working for the Daily Circus a tabloid newspaper. Using the job as a Journalist he would end up making connections that he would later use during his years as a crime lord while using being an investor as a cover. While working for the Daily Circus he heard about Enoch Drebber's story about witnessing "the Professor" rise from the grave in the dead of night while he was out graverobbing. He interviewed Drebber about what he saw and drew a sketch of the scene Drebber witnessed. However, in lack of journalistic integrity in his story he named Enoch Drebber as the man who saw the Professor rise from his grave while every other newspaper which covered the story did not. This resulted in Drebber who won a trophy for best young scientist being expelled from his university for graverobbing and turning to a life of crime.

The Great Exhibition and Death[]

9 years after the events that ruined Drebber's life, Asman turned up at Drebber's workshop completely forgetting that Drebber was the same man he screwed over 9 years prior. He came to Drebber's workshop to employ him as a creator of teleportation machine and swindler. Having worked with a promising young scientist by the name of Albert Harebrayne and heard his theories about teleportation he employed Drebber to create the teleportation machine to be exhibited at the Great Exhibition with the ultimate goal being to get the research grant money. He brought with him to Drebber's workshop a newspaper mentioning Courtney Sithe being promoted to lead the new Forensic Investigation team which was noticed by Drebber.

Scotland Yard one month to Asman's death attempted to arrest and convict Asman for leading the crime syndicate he was in charge of. The prosecution was lead by Barok Van Zieks known as "the Reaper" as everyone he prosecuted against who would end up dead even if they were found not guilty. However, in the end Asman got a not guilty verdict because his syndicate bribed the jury. Thanks to Asman's funding Drebber finished building the fraudulent teleportation machine that was designed to be nothing more than a magic trick. It worked like this: there were 2 "birdcages" in one would be Odie Asman and in the other would be a body double in this case a waxwork of the Professor stolen from Madame Tusspells' waxwork museum by Drebber a few days prior while Asman's cage would fall 50 ft threw a hole covered up by smoke. In the waxwork which Courntey Sithe would find was a letter "from someone who knew the truth about 10 years ago" which demanded her to set up the crime scene to make it look like the teleportation actually occured. However, this letter was pointless as Sithe would've done it anyway as Asman was blackmailing her as he knew the truth about what really happened to the Professor and was using it against her. Sithe and her team made the crime look like the teleportation occurred. To get revenge on Asman she went below the stage to wait for Asman's cage to fall. Once it landed, he miraculously survived the 50 ft fall and stood up only to be fatally stabbed by Sithe for blackmailing her. Sithe then carried his corpse to the Crystal Tower to complete the frame job ordered by Drebber.
