Oki is a minor antagonist in Dragalia Lost and one of the overarching antagonists of the Hinomoto Arc, being the secondary antagonist of the event Celestial Showdown. He is the villainous alternate personality of Izumo, born from the boy's loneliness which he suffered from due to being Amaterasu's emissary.

Like his dominant personality Izumo, he is voiced by Rogin Rashidan in English and Natsumi Kawaida in Japanese.

Appearance[]

Oki, being an alternate personality of Izumo's, is completely identical to him, having green hair, wearing a green top with purple details and purple pants, as well as having heterochromatic eyes, with one being green and the other purple. When Oki is in control, however, his eyes are shadowed over and his expressions are more sinister.

Personality[]

In stark contrast to Izumo's timid but kindly personality, Oki is a sadistic and remorseless boy, gleefully pitting Yukimura against her adoptive father figure Shingen. He is also quite manipulative, taking advantage of Izumo's insecurity to take over his body, even offering to comfort him to lure him into his trap, as well as taking pride in revealing his betrayal of the group.

Despite this, Oki genuinely cares for his dominant personality Izumo, only coming into being due to the emissary's feelings of loneliness from his duty. Once Izumo expresses that he is alright with this loneliness, being part of his responsibility, Oki vanishes, having made peace that Izumo is alright.

Biography[]

Background[]

Raised from birth to be Amaterasu's emissary, Izumo was granted the power to travel to her realm, Takamagahara and to call upon the dragon's power, helping the people and delivering hope. While this duty allowed Izumo to bring happiness and peace to all, deep down he always felt lonely, being unable to interact with others of his age, causing a second personality of Oki to manifest inside him.

Seeing his dominant personality's suffering, Oki plotted to release Izumo from his duties by destroying the one he serves: Amaterasu. Pledging loyalty to the wicked moon dragon Tsukuyomi and acting as her emissary, he begins plotting to revive her, allowing her to destroy Amaterasu and set Izumo free.

Celestial Showdown[]

With all preparations complete, Oki uses his Underworld Key, Izumo's Eight-Span Mirror, to open up rifts to the Yomi with the Mukuroshu, spreading havoc and dark mana all over the place. Fortunately, Izumo and the Wyrmclan leaders Yukimura and Shingen go to Alberia, enlisting Euden's help to stop the madness. Sealing the Yomi mana in Alberia, they travel back to Hinomoto, planning to ambush the Mukuroshu after camping out in a bamboo forest. However, Oki secretly removes the disguising barrier over their camp and notifies the Mukuroshu, causing the party to be kindapped and be brought as sacrifices to Tsukuyomi, who, while they beat badly, still manages to overcome them, forcing the party to retreat with Shingen left behind to fend the dragon off.

Barely escaping from the battle, Yukimura attempts to hype everybody up to battle Tsukuyomi again, but Izumo, terrified and unused to battle, sees the fight as unwinnable and despairs. The two argue, with Yukimura angrily calling him a coward, causing Izumo to leave to be alone. Confiding in his reflection in the Eight-Span Mirror, he suddenly hears his reflection talking: Oki. Oki sympathises with Izumo, offering to grant him courage by fighting in his stead. This is revealed to be a lie however, as Oki simply uses this opportunity to take over Izumo's personality, controlling his body.

The party excitedly greet "Izumo", but when he tells them that Shingen is dead and that Tsukuyomi is his master, they notice something noticeably off about him. Oki introduces himself, revealing himself as Izumo's alternate personality and how through Izumo's duties as an emissary, he managed to achieve many things such as taking down the barrier and using his Eight-Span Mirror as an Underworld Key to unleash Tsukuyomi, as the mirror can open doors to other realms than Takamagahara. The party is shocked by this revelation, much to Oki's glee, but when they try to take him on, he reveals the mind-controlled Shingen, puppeteered by Yomi chi, who attacks the party. Yukimura refuses to believe this, believing the general is safe but when Oki points out the heavily injured Fudo-Myo'o, she is horrified as Shingen charges in to attack.

The party is defeated, leaving only Yukimura, who struggles to fend off her master. Oki eggs her on to fight, and when asked why he's doing this, he reveals his origins to Yukimura. He attempts to convince her to give up, mocking her for being stupid but she refuses. Fortunately, Shingen manages to regain consciousness for long enough to reassure her that she isn't stupid and that her bravery has made her far stronger than he is. Oki doesn't overhear the conversation and bored of the standstill, pumps more Yomi chi into Shingen, but is shocked to see Yukimura still standing after the brawl. Summoning all her might, Yukimura merges the power of her dual Tiger and Monkey clan bloodlines and empowers herself, changing form before finally landing a final mercy blow, seemingly ending Shingen.

Oki is angered by this development, but just as he is about to summon more soldiers, Yukimura decides to reason with him and Izumo. She reveals that like him, she lived all alone when she was little, being locked up as a political prisoner in a castle with no friends or freedom, but when she was rescued by Shingen, she realised that she could've fought back against her circumstances. Encouraging Izumo to find the courage to stand up to his problems, the Eight-Span Mirror begins to glow and Izumo appears as a reflection inside. He tells Oki that they were never truly trapped by their duties as emissary, and it was simply because he never had the courage to stand up for himself. Oki is angered by this, seeing Izumo's actions as betrayal, but he is reassured that while he has always listened to him and Izumo is thankful for that, he never wanted to harm anybody and doesn't agree with Oki. With that, Izumo regains control and Oki vanishes.

Izumo apologises for Oki's actions, but fortunately Shingen is still alive thanks to the many protection seals embedded in his armor. Able to access some of Oki's memories, Izumo reveals that Tsukuyomi is replenishing herself with Yomi chi to remain invulnerable and thus forms a plot to trap her in Takamagahara to finish her off. With Amaterasu's help, the evil moon dragon is trapped, defeated by the party and finally finished off by Amaterasu who collapses the parallel realm while the party escape, killing them both.

Legacy[]

After the events of "Celestial Showdown", Izumo is tried by the Wyrmclan leaders for Oki's actions. Fortunately he is deemed innocent as Oki's actions were beyond his control and he didn't manifest him on purpose. However, his actions under Oki's influence still leads Izumo to have doubts over his ability.
