Okina (血の指、翁 'Old Man' in Japanese) is an NPC cooperator and invader in the 2022 RPG-Action video game Elden Ring. He is a samurai warrior who is known to have a lust for combat. This led him to the demigod Mohg, who then made him a demon with unsated thirst.
Appearance[]
Okina appears as a Japanese-like warrior who wears samurai armor. His face is completely hidden behind a wooden mask he is wearing, which depicts an angry elderly man baring his teeth.
Biography[]
Okina is a great swordsman who was born in the Land of Reeds. Because of the wooden mask he wears, this earned him the nickname"Old Man". He is the leader of several disciples who are part of a group of combatants called the White Reeds, who seek proper deaths that are honorably won through hard-fought combat. Okina is also the master of his head disciples the Inaba.
Okina sharpened his mind as time passed and came to the stark belief of the absurdities of the world. Renouncing it all, he would ascend to a higher plane, abandoning the Inaba in the process. There is only himself, his sword, and its mastery. This led him to the demigod Mohg, Lord of Blood. Feeling the warrior's sword and madness on his flesh, Mohg decided to give Okina a proposal: he would give him the life of a demon, whose thirst could never be unsated. Okina accepted this and before long he became a demonic swordsman, where he wields an wakizashi on his left hand and a full-sized cursed katana on his right hand.
Elden Ring[]
During the Radahn festival, Okina is one of several NPCs who can be summoned to assist the Tarnished in battling Starscourge Radahn. As a summon NPC, he can use different fighting moves. At the Church of Repose in the Mountaintops of the Giants, Okina will appear as an invader. Upon his defeat, he will drop Furlcalling Finger Remedy, his mask, 734 runes, and his sword, Rivers of Blood.
