The Old Hero is a minor antagonist and boss in Demon's Souls, as well as its 2020 remake of the same name.
Biography[]
The Old Hero was a powerful warrior of the Shadowmen, a group who worshipped the Storm King at the Shrine of Storms. While blind, the Old Hero spent his life with extreme awareness of his surrounding.
At the Shrine of Storms, the second stage of the Shadowmen's ritual to appease the Storm King was for the dead to be laid upon an altar during a storm and be purified. The Old Hero, for unknown reasons, was against the rituals and had a falling out with the Shadowmen. In punishment, the Old Hero was chained to the wall and forced to watch as the rituals processed. The Old Hero soon died on the wall and became covered in rock and rubble to be "one" with the scenery. But when the Colorless Fog swept through the region, the Old Hero was revived as a demon, hungry for vengeance against his tormenters.
The Old Hero is the second boss the Slayer of Demons encounters in the Shrine of Storms. They fight him in a long hallway with statues of Shadowmen to the side and the altar at the very back. The Old Hero is blind and moves about confusedly, feeling around with his left hand out. He may occasionally swing his sword at random. If he is attacked or hears the player's movement, the Old Hero lets out an intimidating roar, the sign that he knows where the player is hiding. He will then charge directly in the location where the player is located, using his sword to deal massive damage. The player can hide behind the pillars. If the Old Hero is not attacked once he finishes his combo, he will return to the middle of the room. The player can use ranged weaponry from a distance, but if hit too much rapidly, the Old Hero will detect the player's location. Wearing the Thief's Ring will make the fight more trivial as it reduces all sounds of the player. At half health, the Old Hero will emit a powerful blast from his sword that deals massive damage if not avoided.
Once the Old Hero goes down, he drops the Hero Demon's Soul.

- The Old Hero's Hero Demon's Soul can be consumed for 36,000 souls, be used to ascend Claws+8 into the Large Sword of Searching with Blacksmith Ed or traded to Saint Urbain for the Second Chance miracle.
